I think Nigel was involved in that case. I wonder what the outcome will be. There are some big plans for that area so I somehow doubt the boatyard will survive.

I doubt the boat yard will survive, but at least they are not going quietly.

"A spokesman for the Mayor of London said: “The redevelopment of Albert Island is an important part of the wider regeneration of the Royal Docks, creating a significant new business district for London and boosting jobs and economic growth."
Why would they want to stand in the way of boosting jobs and economic growth? (translation: backhanders for Sad Dick and his cronies)

Just went down there this morning as its local to me. The place is crawling with "dog unit" vehicles with men and dogs. About 10 or 15 units. The marina has I would estimate around 50-60 vessels some on land. A lot of boats it would be awkward to relocate as it is a sea lock there and some of the boats look a bit worse for wear. Once the weather turns it is positively dangerous to lock a boat out of there. It's a small lock built inside the original large ship lock which is derelict. Going to be an interesting eviction I reckon quite a few boats will end up on eBay cheap or just be abandoned. Old grand union nb pair Archimedes and Ara are there on land. Intriguing.

Well the dog unit men are in the marina office (centre left of photo) so yes they are in the boatyard not outside it. I'm not sure where they are "sitting it out" possibly in a boat. Its not very organized down there and there is not much "property" as such. Boats, shipping containers etc.

Big businesses started out little once... Wish I was down in the big smoke..sadly cannot get there till the end of the month and then if I'm temporarily without fixed abode eldest sons turn to put up with me ..he's still abroad so although daughter in law ok with the plan he doesn't know....

I might be a bit radical, but I. Think it's about time people came before corporate profits.

Wasn't the guy who had Archimedes and Ara in prison, I wonder if he still is? The man who operated the boats went to prison for rape as I recall. But I believe he wasn't the owner. I understood the pair were up for sale, but it's been a while since I heard any update. Rog
