Didn't think it was funny?
Sometimes stuff just makes you laugh.

I think I recognise foxy's photo, as a boat moored just north of Nantwich which has been there and in that condition a number of years (I was last up there 2017). I can only assume it's licensed or else C&RT would have taken action. The person onboard avoids all attempts at contact. The Nantwich service block (and skips) are a five minute cruise or twenty minute walk away, so our impression was certainly that the occupier may have mental health issues. Rog ETA If it is the boat I'm thinking of, everything is onboard ... nothing is on the towpath. Might be one of the equality act adjustments. CRT do allow some unusual movement patterns if a person has a protected characteristic. I went to a crt forum a while ago which mostly consisted of cruising club members. When the topic about enforcement was discussed they kept saying put a notice on then if they don't move another notice then another one. At one stage the CRT man had to mention the number (but not identity) of vessels which had had EA adjustments applied for health reasons. Physical and mental health. I think he was just saying "look - mind your own business!" I recognise that boat which has been there or very closely thereabouts for many, many years now..... another very posh, shiny and pretty boat has overstayed in the same pound for approximately the same amount of time …...

KKK membership annual renewal time? 👍 The two people I thought I admired the most on here liked this comment. I'm very sad. I think we both recognised it as banter/jest etc.

Perhaps Mumsnet.com could be a more fitting forum for you?

I don't see why some should be allowed to 'get away with it' - mental illness or not. We are allowed only 14 days mooring max 'at one place' - so why are others allowed to stay years on the same spot, where if we did the same CRT would remove our licence? Or do some other evil thing. How about putting such 'case boats' into marinas such as Aqueduct (£90/week for a 40-footer) and let the wealthy hobnob with a pile-of-floating-rubbish? Yes, we all know their reaction. I do have sympathy for the poor and ... well ... nutters ... but it seems bizarre just to let them sit there under a mountain of filthy junk. How about CRT sending someone along to help tidy up such boats? Isn't Richard parry keen on community work and 'well-being'? He'll do - the perfect representative of a caring recreational Charity. It also makes a mockery of the BSS and insurance companies demanding hull surveys, when rusting hulks are left to disintegrate and sink. Better send a BSS chappie to these boats quick, to make sure they all have working CO alarms - because we'll FAIL our next BSS if we don't have one, and CRT will REFUSE to renew our licence if no valid BSS. What a pile of hypocritical old cobblers. you've not even encountered it. Four times driven past. Would you like two boats like that as neighbours when yours is in a marina? Rats a scrabbling hither and thither? The pong of rubbish on a hot Summer's day? Lovely.

I note no-one cares for the plight of the Uyghurs. I certainly think highlighting their ongoing genocide by the Chinese so-called 'Communists' is a worthy cause.

I've walked past several times and was not aware of any smell or rats. Well, if we park up behind or in front of Paneke some day, instead of taking our rubbish bags straight to the bins, we'll leave them on the back deck and roof and if anybody asks we'll say "Yes, we are with them!" and then follow you all round the country looking like a lonely lost skip who has found a friend. Yes, you can run, but we're usually awake at 5am.

What I would be interested to know is what sort of condition, or state the "Raggedy Rawny" on the K&A is in, and what were the "Deeply offensive comments" that reduced his wife & son "to tears and left them deeply offended". We only have one side of the story here, and if it is as reported then fair enough, however there may well be a second and different side to this story, that on balanced consideration may well alter the view points expressed above.

It certainly would be interesting. It does sound a bit like bullying if they were that upset. Or perhaps "truth hurts" and comments were made about raising a child in unsatisfactory conditions (32ft narrow boat).
The fact there had been some other trouble in general with other locals makes me think that some of the boat dwellers may be pushing the bounds of reasonable behaviour hence my pikey comment at the beginning of the thread.
There are definitely two sides and only one is being shown.
One thing it is important to remember is that a canal is a local amenity. Think of it as a linear park which the locals should be able to enjoy and find pleasurable. It is not actually a campsite.

I see That George Ward is still wearing the same clothes from whence his boat was sunk and the large 'begging session on just giving' was set up... You'd think he would spend a fiver of his new found wealth on a wash n dry session down the local laundry!
Scruffy, soap-dodging git!!
