Not sure what the performance of your boat is, a lot of what is written there has cruisers in mind, so be cautious with timings etc especially if you are slower than the average.
Also you need to be aware that these rivers change at the drop of a hat.
This is why charts by ABP for the bottom end after Keadby and for the Ouse are re-issued so frequently.
It's good reading and seems to give a decent and useful overview. ....... As Tony will undoubtedly tell you .....remember it ain't set in stone

It does refer throughout to cruising time being at 6 knots which is a little more rapid than I've been used to taking my boat so that's going to be fun.

I went the other way, Keadby to Torksey, it took us 6.5hrs,arrived at dusk. A problem developed with the outboard which meant we couldn't go at full throttle. We survived.

I was wondering how long that section will take. I'm going to head from Cassiobridge/Watford to Newark for the first week and then hopefully Newark to Keadby Junction after that. I'm hoping I can do that in a day.

At a guess set out before high water, push the incoming then down on the ebb, that's how it works on the Ouse from Naburn and you don't have to thrash the engine.

all hinges on the tides but that is a very long day if you are solo, you can't stop for a pee break or to make a cup of tea or a bite to eat and you have to concentrate on what you are doing.
If solo, my recommendation would be to break the trip at Torksey on the pontoons outside the lock. Xan's tearoom (not cafe please) at the lock or a decent pub just up the road a hundred yards or so. A good nights kip and a fresh start for the run down to Keadby the next day.
If you are not panicking for time then why make it a hardship, when you can make it a couple of pleasant days.

P.S. what you have to remember that it's not like the canal or a "tamed" river and you can't just tie up when you get tired, you have to plan ahead

We split our trip into 2,had a run up to Saxilby for a night before going to Cromwell. There are pontoons at Gainsborough but I've heard not reccomended for overnight.

I split the journey at Gainsborough coming up the Trent. I had to stay three days because of a storm. It's worth remembering if you do stay at Gainsborough there is the aegir.

Saxilby is a nice spot, spent a few days there ...... it is a bit of a side trip though and although Saxilby is nice there is bugger all to see on the run because of the high banks

Good cafe just near the pontoon but it can be a bit scrote susceptible .... problem being they're looking down on you from high up on the quayside.

The scrotes definately hang around there, but I didn't have any issues with them. The tidal bore was more scary the first time it came through.
