Am I wrong to assume that TV commercials featuring families in their own homes should be 'typical', or at least proportionally representative of actual families?
It seems to me that more than 50% of such commercials feature a white mother and black father (but rarely the opposite for some reason).
What is going on here? Is it fashionable? Do the advertising agencies feel they have quotas to fulfil (overfill to avoid any sense of discrimination)? Is it all set up as some kind of apologies to mixed race families, to make them feel comfortable? It's got so bad that the average all white family must be feeling discriminated against.
............. oh, and while I'm on a rant about TV commercials, why are all the dentists featured recommending toothpaste and toothbrushes not native British? Is there some code from the BDA that discourages British dentists from taking part in ads?
If you watch TV, it's beginning to feel like we natives are guests in a foreign country.

We don't have a telly. My kids (6y10m and 8y11m) have never seen a British TV advert. They have seen French ones as the outlaws in Dijon have a big telly.
I hate telly. Did have one for snooker years ago but nothing now.
I also hate advertising and educate my kids to recognise that advertising is all about getting people to buy shit they do not want or need.
One of them was asking about Amazon I said its all a con.

They may be twats for avoiding tax (with the blessing of HMRC) but the concept is nothing short of brilliant, as with McDonalds. One has to hail the Americans for their nuance of business. |

One of them was asking about Amazon I said its all a con. beware with Amazon - their admin is not very smart. I bought an item with 'free delivery' last week and they charged me £4.49 for P&P. When I complained (the message goes to the vendor) he said it wasn't his problem. I called Amazon on their contact number (which is actually answered, without any delay) and the matter was sorted immediately. Better than ebay in that respect. |
