I suspect with all the brexit nonsense the fellow at the centre of this story may get short shrift from the general public. I dug into the story on this, and my conclusion was that he was basically trying to take the piss. The way CRT handle these issues is the biggest factor. CRT need to change their approach, nobody likes a bully.

Again, I must reiterate that I don’t know enough information about the OP case to form my own view yet. As Kris would also say, it’s probably ‘none of my fucking buisiness’ either. As a liveaboard (Ok, one who has a possible Plan B if needed), I do worry about anything which might might cause the law to be bolstered up to the point we are all threatened.

That's why I think the NBTA are a crt based organisation. They will force changes which will have a negative impact on a lot of long term boat residents .
My pet theory anyway.

Personally I think that is one step too far, although it is always possible they are being misguided. Who knows to be honest? Sadly it is people’s perspective which matters, not necessarily the truth...wherever it is...

It's not a flaky case if they are attempting to get a license issued. CRT are breaking the law by refusing one if he has the relevant documentation.

Well until it all goes to court we won’t find out whether it is flaky or not. As I said, we don’t know enough.

People seem to get caught up on the fact it's an immigrants boat or the asthetics and lose sight of the issue cart arbitrarily refused to luscence the boat.
