The great woman has spoken and decreed that she will buy a 'stupid' tv for about £200 and connect to the existing recorder by hdmi lead. She'll also buy a new dvd player that connects by hdmi . After 40 years of marriage I've learnt it's best to compromise ... and do what she wants Rog If the new tv has phono sockets you could use a scart to 3 phono plug adapter lead to connect the dvd player.

Always good to see a good bit of down-to-earth problem solving More please. It's a good resolution but a bit like when my father in law got HD for the first time and connected it with a scart lead. It was exactly the same as normal tv.

I brought a 'new tv' last year...suspect it could be a smart one but I dunno..not being IT savvy I just watch it..however my CCTV is connected to it and I could in fullness of time maybe have net flicks when sky do it. However my bill more than enough and I shan't pay more. I'd shop around but I think another provider would put up another satty dish and thats what stops me. Sky wouldn't use the existing one so I ended up with 2..the CCTV guy took one away for me . Its such a waste.

We don't want a smart tv ... it's pointless without wifi which we don't have. Rog I've just bought a Sharp 43" smart tv. Works with just an aerial connected no interweb needed. I don't get all the extras but it gets me tv. Seem to remember it has scart/video input as well using a supplied adapter cable.

We're giving you a night off. Watch out … foxy will no doubt be along soon to give it some competition …. Who? What? Haven't looked this thread yet.. have there been some juicy goings-on? +7, thermometer hung outside overnight, willow logs that I cut from a fallen tree in July raging away in the stove with some coal, and Little Bedwyn now smothered in a blue haze, various farm animals coughing, etc. Padlock man came and so we are off at 0820 instead of 0900.

"Smart" is quite a clever way to make a product more appealing. It implies that the person buying it is "smart" but what it actually means is that the product you are buying is able to identify your personal traits and characteristics which can then be used for targeted advertising. That's all it's about. Dressed up as being more useful to the consumer. They really get into your head. Like a worm. Well I find our smart TV very useful. It’s a modern world. 👍🍻
