Not sure if it's been mentioned already but what nationality / lingo is this guest quaysider ? ETA have you considered using something like Google translate as an intermediary. You could try translating a joke maybe and see if it has a desirable reaction. Maybe a "why did the chicken cross the road?" type of humourous reference might spark up a bit of banter. lol - she's from Singapore... a librarian and just doens't speak...ย she's nice enough but silence is deafening. But is she enjoying herself?

They have been to Euro Disney as well, had a great time. They visited the Louvre yesterday, his gf wasnโt impressed with the Mona Lisa but commented that it was in a nice frame๐. I suspect she would prefer Nicks brighter type of art. Hope your lad has a great time, Paris is wonderful.

Nice to see a bit of scum bling now and then on a narrow boat. Quite unusual these days.

When I was 10 I went to Paris to see my relatives, I went with my parents the first time, after that summer holidays were spent there yearly, they had a farm in the south of France as well, so we used to go there for hald the holiday. This was all done so that I would be able to speak french better, which could just as easily have been achieved if my dad had taught me! The reality was my cousins and I had a great time, we spoke franglais which helped none of us in school! but I always came back with a good suntan and a taste for good french wine

I wonder if there was some sort of communication problem and she had thought that the holiday was not purely about boating. A healthy young free and single good looking bloke on a boat. With a furrin woman. Hmm. There could be some assumptions specially with the regular shower visits written into the t&c. quaysider - She must have been gutted when she realised you are queer

Re Getting rid of stuff, try Freegle/freecycle, post what you have to give away, whoever wants it picks it up, or you might offer to drop it off, to get the job done.
