I suppose if someone mentions blowing something up in the sense of access to explosives then maybe it comes up as a potential terrorist incident. Do we know the background of the person involved? Maybe the whole boat is wired with enough Semtex to take out the whole area. Or he could even have a dirty nuclear nerve gas device in there. How would we know. Even my MI6 contacts don't know thus far however they have some of their little mozzy drone cameras in there as we speak. According to Face Ache he was going to use his gas cylinders

Its very sad when someones Mental Health Issues go into melt down The system fails so many. When I trained I visited Bansted and it shocked seeing those lost people just sitting staring aimlessly in corridors My mum was put in a psy hosp because of a reaction to drugs for arthritis..a family member 'encouraged' the Drs to keep her there. I came down from Scotland and got her out, it was the deciding factor to re locate to the UK..it was awful Years down the line another incident with a family member saw a unbelievable response by police who brought out armed response.. What ever happened to compassion and empathy? I hope they help him but I'm not confident they will.

A lot of the problems come down to incorrect diagnosis and enforced medication which in some cases makes symptoms ten times worse. Ignorance in the medical profession and the $$$ big pharma corporations ruin lives. Big time. Legal dope peddlers. (Funny song )

There will be people that would. Castleford is a good town, it might not be posh and pretensious like some canal towns, but its friendly and cheap. " The people of Cas have all they need for day to day chav life: Burger King, Elizabeth Duke, Supercigs and Cash Converters (ideal for allegedly offloading that stolen X-Box.) A trip to Castleford is a real eye opener, and you need to keep your eyes open because, if you dared to close them, they’d have your wallet faster than you could say ‘XR3i.’ " "Castleford voted one of the worst places to live in the UK." www.pontefractandcastlefordexpress.co.uk/news/castleford-voted-one-worst-places-live-uk-193376

So far it would appear no-one here knows the story. Why has this chap been overstaying? What is it all about? Why did he threaten to blow his boat up? And what danger would that have been to anyone?

I am willing to hazard a guess the boater in question is suffering from paranoia - hence, perhaps, the collection of dogs. I also imagine that he was approached by somebody he perceived as an authority figure and thus a threat. But perhaps more details will emerge. I doubt it though, I expect the story will become un-newsworthy when he is taken away.
What might help him would be if someone was there to caretake his boat for a little while.

What might help him would be if someone was there to caretake his boat for a little while. Not a bad thought, although if it is unlicenced, etc. then it shouldn't even be on the waterway. If it isn't, then some nice person might like to buy a licence, and get the BSS and insurance all sorted out for him, eh? But then a lot depends on what kind of person he is, too, and of his history. Some people are deserving of help, others deserve a horrible fate.

I think the Number 1 fear is being eaten by another animal whilst still alive.

Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be eaten by another animal while still alive! I sometimes lay awake at night dreaming of being eaten by another animal while still alive.

I don't think many would miss Castleford. I like the bridge over the weir. only 'cos there is a wrecked boat under it
