Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be eaten by another animal while still alive! I sometimes lay awake at night dreaming of being eaten by another animal while still alive. I'm working my way through these v-sauce videos.... haven't watched this latest one, but might be interesting for some here? I don't know what's in it, of course, but I have enjoyed the 'scientific' ones:

I like the bridge over the weir. only 'cos there is a wrecked boat under it The boat is a bonus. I enjoy it for its artistic integrity, the sweep of the deck, the smoothness of the wood. The juxtaposition of the sleeping tramp and the foaming rapids. Hints of former glory in the wrecked Hull. I could go on, but what's the point in this wilderness. I see naughtyfox has been scraping the cass-ette of life for gems as ever. I need to wash my eyes. dogless, schadenfreude is deep in our souls, we need to let out the emotions raised by horror, grief, misfortune and Yorkshiremen. It just has to be done sensitively, with kindness and no thought for the victim. Keep waving you banner though. Put some lights on it, it will look pretty at night.

Today is Saturday. Does anyone know what the story is from beginning to end? Or is the siege still going on?
"A man has been detained after he was involved in a 36-hour standoff with police on a Castleford canal." - ah, 'detained'. How much did 36 hours cost in Police and other 'rescue crew' salaries?! I rather think the Hong Kong Police would have fired a scud missile through a window, BOOM!, and then got striaght back to the usual business of beating up Democracy protestors.
From the Pontefract and Castledford Facebook page:
Bev Draper For those who would like the man shot. If he was a member of your family or a friend would you be okay with that? Where's the humanity and compassion. No one knows what someone else is going through. My journey home from work was impacted by this but killing the bloke or sinking his boat is not what I would sign up for.
Gareth Billingham Bev Draper wheres his compassion and humanity letting his dogs rip other dogs apart? Then threatening the owners with violence himself....
Lisa Davis This man has been cropping up on pages for weeks. Him letting his vicious dogs attack other dogs and causing anti social problems. He ain't got depression, he's a prick.

Now precisely what terrible arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and heinous arms did the boater have at his disposal that warranted so many armed police, fire brigade, ambulance, boat division crews and uncle Tom Cobley and all?
Just to get attention?

Just to get attention? They maybe used this incident to practise armed response ... I reckon thats what they did with my son as the response to him far outweighed any evidence that he was a danger... It was the stuff of a drama filled soap opera and badly frightened not only me but him

It never ceases to amaze me how people who have never even seen an angry man in the flesh, know EXACTLY how things should be done.

Do you seriously thing a small bang on a boat would rupture fuel storage containers on land? The worst that would have happened is that he'd singe his eyebrows. Anyway, looks like this 'boater' has a reputation for letting his dogs attack other dogs. It would be interesting to know why CRT let him overstay in Leeds whilst they pursue other overstayers with vengeance.

Pierce small hole in lid put on lid. Light, stand back and wait till the right mix develops. Used to do this with a fag packet and oxy acetylene when training to be a welder. Now go and try it with maybe 50 cu m in a steel box. On the other hand it might be safer to stay rattling your keyboard and polishing your chair. Or Checking licences.

I bet his gas cylinders were empty. Does anyone have any videos of narrowboats exploding?
This was filmed on the Canal between Elland and Brighouse in West Yorkshire:

I actually know this guy, he worked for castleford marina when my boat was being fingered, he disappeared with a load of stolen goods and CRT looking for him. The next time I saw him was on our canal where he hid for a while before CRT came a knocking, then it was a couple of years ago that he was blocking up an important lock landing for a couple of months! In real life like his dogs he is barking!!!

Barking or not, if he hasn't a licence then he should be off the canals.

This was filmed on the Canal between Elland and Brighouse in West Yorkshire: Both of those were not "real" explosions, but controlled ones created for effect, my mate works for a special effects company, been involved in a few, perhaps the most satisfying being the blowing up of a caravan.
