My last post you felt compelled to snipe at indicated I was moored on the North Oxford ... with even a photo to illustrate. Any presumption in my post quoted, was about the boat's destination not it's location. You don't like me ... I get it. Please feel free not to follow me around the forum sniping ... it's boring for everyone. I know you have a lot of time on your hands now, but consider taking up a hobby ... flower arranging or maybe volunteering for the Samaritans Rog Before I reply fully, . . let's make sure we're both talking about the SAME post, . . THIS one : -- thunderboat.boards.net/post/308767/thread which reads : -- " Before we left Braunston, yesterday lunch time, a wide beam came by heading for Dunchurch I presume ... this time it appeared to be with the owners and a couple of guests on board, with narrow boats scuttling for the banks to get out of the way.
I was a bit busy, so couldn't get a photo unfortunately.
No alerts, no warnings, the boat just appeared ... perhaps now wide beams are in Dunchurch Pools and Barby moorings, it's not too surprising that they go out cruising, even though it's a narrow canal, and is a hazard to be aware of on this stretch.
Rog "____________________________________________________________________________ * So where does it state that you were tied up on the North Oxford ? and : * Where is the photo, . . or any reference or link to one ? Looking a tad silly now Dunkers eh..

Was the presumption that this "hazard" was heading for the North Oxford based on seeing which way it went at Braunston Turn, and if not, did you give any thought to the possibility that it may have been intending to take the Oxford to Napton -- the length that you, mistakenly, think was "widened" in the 1930's -- before turning off down Wigram's Three and Itchington to head off towards Brum ? From watching various videos of today's narrow beam canal pleasure craft on the move, in the hands of their obviously nervous owners, it is all too apparent that "scuttling for the banks to get out of the way" is how most noddyboaters react to anything coming in the opposite direction, . . whatever width it happens to be, . . and unless they're already bumbling along on one side or the other in the canal's margins, . . as they so frequently are ! ". In plain simple English the three words "My last post" mean 'the post' immediately prior to 'the post' being quoted from -- which, in turn, means the [your] post quoted again below in large yellow italics : -- Before we left Braunston, yesterday lunch time, a wide beam came by heading for Dunchurch I presume ... this time it appeared to be with the owners and a couple of guests on board, with narrow boats scuttling for the banks to get out of the way.

Where, . . anywhere in the above post, . . your 'last post', . . ie. 'the post' immediately prior to 'the post' being quoted from, . . in large yellow italics, . . is there any mention of or reference to YOU being -- "moored on the North Oxford" -- or any "photo to illustrate" the boat you were whingeing about yesterday ?

Probably where the red marker is. A bit of a bend there so wide beans passing will be quite dodgy. Also a sanity station. Red dot is wrong side of canal. He will have been on the other side ie outside it bend. The discussion is about wide boats between the left hand bridge and the Barby marina. Once you get past midland swindlers you arrr on the Grand Union.

Imagine you all being able to read the thread and understand it ... amazing talent obviously.
Massive problem for those poor souls who can't retain information ... like a boat needs to have a licence and BSSC

What is it that you have EVER said to me, that makes you believe I would wish to engage in conversation with you ? Rog I know some love constant repetition of the same post ... so try this one. A bit of bold and underlining seems topical tooAlice

For the benefit of pedantic old quacks The original name was the 'Grand Junction Canal' and it was re-named the 'Grand Union Canal' in 1929, at a rough estimate some 15 years before the birth of TB's most disagreeable curmudgeon.

That was when (1929 - 1934) the route was WIDENED by the addition of broad locks alongside the original narrows I believe Rog

And also when some of the iron hardware with GJCCo written on it had the J altered by the addition of an upwards line to the left to form a U. Not a lot of people know that I've actually got a very nice unusual boathook with GJCCo stamped into it. Nice bit of history that one.
