We headed up Hillmorton about 9.15am as it was so quiet (two down and none up) as I'd been expecting the Whacky Races from 8am
Steady cruise into Braunston and we were commenting how much quieter with boats it is this week, compared to last.

Was very quiet, until the lock by Baddersley. Low pounds, gate that wouldnβt shut made it entertaining. Half a dozen boats queuing near the bottom in the end.

Ill keep an eye out, moored back from the junction at the minute, but reckon ill nip into the marina and top up the diesel and then drop on the seven day moorings by the junction.

Really quiet on the Avon & I mean really quiet.A boat going by is a source of great interest.

Really quiet on the Avon & I mean really quiet.A boat going by is a source of great interest. Spookily quiet here, too. Apart from the old boy who never leaves the car park next to the "posh" restaurant, I am the only boat moored in Compton (stayed for the excellent Chinese and silly bargains in Sainsburys). However, as Telemachus warns, they're all out in September - and they like telling you why and all about it!

Good chippy too. They were on their holibobs when we came through. Must be good as they were queuing round the block early evening - just smells a bit strange to me and not sure what makes the chips orange? Great Chinese and a sailmakers needle for 20p from the Hospice shop, just sad the chandlers is now posey empty apartments ....

Yes, still lovely people and good service; think they are mainly doing online business now. Bought a cheap chimney, fenders and fuses. Extremely helpful about blacking and accommodating the daft dog - offered a gantry and help with him but sadly no availability until the end of October.
