Lovely photo patty ... Freya's very bonny. Upto three degrees and a thaw here too ... got our chores sorted very enjoyably although it's getting dark already now we're back home. The beer in the Plough is always very good in my experience, but not cheap. Hope you're feeling better soon ianaliRog Thanks Roger. Better now and back off to boat. Will float around for a while, see where we can go avoiding stoppages. Want to get some pub time in, before the mad masking returns. After that it’ll be home for a while and some garage time to work on the car and bike engines. Be Spring before we know it huh.

Lovely day for a bit of chugging today, left the Plough, turned at King’s Orchard, stopped for lunch at Hopwas. Past 3 or 4 boats out enjoying the warmer weather. Back to the Marina for tonight because I need to remove the stove flew and give it a proper clearing out. High temperature silicone ordered from Screwfix. I think we’ll drive back on Thursday.

You'd think a man with TellyMackus's education would know the difference between flu and flue.

You'd think a man with TellyMackus's education would know the difference between flu and flue. You might think it … and you’d be correct, the difference is an e. Anyway, you are slipping - you missed another deliberate mistake.

one thing I've always insisted on at home is a corded phone plugged in somewhere. We've all got phones but In an emergency it might just be useful. That's all very well if you have a landline connection to connect it to. Here we have all the sockets but no connection to the outside world 😯 Can't see the point of paying ££££ to BT for an inferior service.😱 We have sky and the line fee is free because we apparently have internet phone, however upon plugging a phone on it works even when the router is off, which they said would stop it. I've never paid BT for a phone line.

I've never paid BT for a phone line. I've only ever had mobile phones but that's mainly due to living in boats mostly not connected to the grid. There is a phone line on the mooring but I doubt it would be worthwhile. As the phones are now trackers as well it's even more sensible to have one in case one goes missing.

One of the things that Northern Powergen mentioned on the local news the other day after the storm was that after a while or virtually immediately people lost all means of communication by phone.
The batteries in their cordless phones had flattened and base/or base units wouldn't work without power and the power outages had knocked the local mobile masts out too.
The advice is indeed (if you have a working line) its always worth having a cheapo phone that you can plug direct into to a phone point for emergencies.
(This will need an especially long lead if on a boat)
