I always suspected polygamy might have been a useful approach ?

50 grand of premium bonds per wife increases the chance of getting the big win.

This could be an issue yes.
I think the idea is for selective wife admittance.
I've no idea about all this as have never had a wife but I could see the potential positives if they were all not nutters.

No. I've only ever bedded one person in my life and that's the mother of my children. And she did ask me to marry her but I said no because she is the perfect woman. Simple really. I would not want to burden such a great person with the task of dealing with someone like me on a daily basis

Invested wisely? Posting from limp.thigh.banana And since then i think maybe two or three Β£10/Β£15 wins, it is a scam really. Maybe it is if you just view the Return To Player percentages in isolation but a lot of the surplus goes to good causes, and these are generally things which would struggle to obtain funding elsewhere, scout huts, preserved railway and canal restoration projects, days out for disabled kids etc so you are making a genuine charitable donation when you play.

I pay into an air ambulance funding lottery.
With my luck at winning things I never expected to win anything but I was amazed to get a cheque for a couple of hundred pounds, two or three years ago.
Gambling in any form is a waste of time for me, if I bet on the favourite in a horse race, it will set off the wrong way round the track.

Hope Santa's good to you though I normally accept anything - normally 6 pairs of slippers in varying sizes and designs - no one has ever seen me wear slippers since I left home 40+ years ago. I still do thank you's though...

As I said I'll do a couple of quid on lotteries per week and a tenner on the Grand National once a year but in general gambling addiction is worse than heroin addiction. I used to be an AWP service engineer (Amusement With Prizes, or fruit machines) and I've seen so many people ruined by them. I've heard so many theories from punters about how to beat them, but the simple fact is that no AWP service engineer would EVER put his own money into one on a night out. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been told that a machine which hasn't paid out for a while is "due for a payout". This is called "gamblers' fallacy". Every play on a slot machine is totally independent of anything which has happened in the past. And as for betting on football, horses etc, that Denise Coates who owns Bet365 paid herself around Β£400 million last year with the rest of the Bet365 board earning another Β£600 million. So a billion in total. But still, every punter who uses Bet365 will do one of two things, come out slightly ahead or break even. None of them ever say "I spunked my house away".

I've had premium bonds for years. I remember some anorak on canalworld doing a calculation about it and it worked out (at 4% savings rate!) that you would do better statistically if you invested the 50 grand in a high interest account and spent the interest on lottery tickets. Don't think that works now with interest rates being so low. I've had loads of 25s and 50s from mine but annoyingly when one wins the Β£2m prize they come to your door in person and I don't have a door and am rather awkward to find. So they might have missed me which would be a shame. Β£2m would be quite handy in a way. I have won more on mine than the interest I would have gained in any account, for me they have been a good investment. Last year I received a couple of cheques for ones that I had failed to cash, they seem remarkably efficient at giving money away
