But it's George's choice not to have paid his licence out of the crowdfunding ££££. Not forgetting to self declare BSC exemption of course. That's always a winner.

There must be a better way to resolve these situations. It’s not as if it’s the first time crt have found themselves in similar situations.

Try living in a motorhome in a layby without paying your dues. CRT are pussycats compared to DVLA and VOSA. Some people do need help to manage their affairs, but I can see situations where daft old grumpfuttocks think they know best and don't need it, thus ending up boatless.

I’m alright for living in a layby thanks. It’s bad enough living on a muddy ditch.

It's all a bit late for that. Even if he somehow obtained a mooring at this point, the boats have already been seized (or whatever term you find preferable) and so George would presumably have to meet the costs of the seizure before he could re-gain the boat. To use a technical term, he is fucked. I feel bad for the guy but I don't see any happy outcome. It makes me wonder if any of his friends ever told him that if he didn't meet the requirements this is where it would all end.

Well he might or might not actually have a safety certificate. Don't believe everything you read in the press! Seems kind of unlikely to me. Maybe it is a Dunkers type safety certificate where he just says he doesn't need one?

He thought he could carry on with impunity and that the rules were for others and not him. He was wrong, just like so many other self-important narcissists. However no doubt his "friends" and the batton twirlers were partially complicit, encouraging him to defy CRT. They don't have to suffer the consequences of their virtue signalling.

From the latest update, he is locked in his one remaining boat, the one with a safety cert. The thing is if you have a safety cert, insurance and a mooring crt can’t refuse to licence the boat.

It would be going against character for you to do so.

Non-compliance seems to be the order of the day but please don't make unpleasant assumptions. You don't know. This is a tragedy, not a comedy. Comparing it to Dunkley's antics is just plain nasty.

Just as I am quite aware that you do feel sorry for him and have lots of empathy - but of course if he came knocking at your door seeking a bed for the night, you would be quick to tell him to fuck off and die. It think this is called virtue signalling.

True, but he doesn't seem to have a permanent mooring.
