The elephant in the room....
Anyone care to suggest what the eventual outcome will be?

That goes without saying.

I think either Israel will have to step back their plans a bit or there will be a wider middle-east war.
I suspect the latter will happen.

I've been to Israel, albeit on a day-trip from Egypt. A short while ago I was considering a trip to Jerusalem. It seems somewhat less desirable at the moment though.

Maybe a more interesting question, should one wish to invoke a discussion, is to ask which side of the argument does one tend to favour, if one has any opinion on the subject (and dare to air in public)...😂

I tried to avoid asking that...

Flatten gaza, get rid of the problems its existence creates. Scum.

I'm surprised that Israel has not embarked on the ground war already; perhaps they are more willing to listen to arguments in favour of discretion than I would believe possible. More likely it's simply a reflection of the reality of military logistics though.
I guess it's one of those subjects best left to a platform other than TB. There's no easy answer, and if anybody is unfamiliar with the complexities of the situation then there are many better resources to refer to.
I was going to speculate how long it would take for the tedious response from the floater to emerge but I see he's already made his inevitable deposit.

In the very short term, the Gazan terrorists. In the medium term, Hamas. In the longer term, the Israelis for keeping the Gazans ghettoised - a tactic they learnt from the Nazis. And Netanyahu is an evil person. He knew that there were plans afoot for something bad to happen. Quite likely he chose to ignore the warnings from Egypt because he needed a distraction from his own problems and needed justification to take a hard line against the Palestinians. All of which is a great shame because we’ve been to Israel a couple of times (Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) and liked the place.

Wars happen where the Jews are.
Isn't it an odd coincidence that europe has been peaceful for so long and this coincides with the efflux of Jews.
I'm an anti semite. I would get rid of all the semitic people.

One might need a dictionary for that !
I wouldn't mind betting that a lot of people would think a semite is a Jew.
It isn't and herein lies the problem.
The WW2 issue was a genocide. Nothing new under the sun. Grabbing the word 'holocaust' and using influence to make people think this is what happened is Bad News. It was not a holocaust it was a very well organised genocide.
Israel is a Nazi state. They learned from those who they presumably admired.
It is broadly similar to the known phenomenon of abused individuals turning into abusers.
Embedded trauma is very serious. There has been no healing there.

I went to Margate once but came away unimpressed.
