With your experience of boating and its benefits and pitfalls, if you could now have a boat built to your specifications, I wonder what choices you would make?
Time was, boating and camping had a lot in common ... calor gas was king and unquestionably a diesel engine powered the boat.
But many more choices are now available ... all electric, diesel stoves and heating, the proliferation of wide beams, solar and lithium etc.
Money no object , I wondered what the boat of your dreams would be ?
Or if, like the motoring 'petrol heads' or the steam engined 'railway enthusiasts' , the dream boat is shaped by old technology ?

I have the perfect boat already.
Had loads of boats none of them quite right but now have the two ideal boats in terms of floating sheds with heating I don't have any desire for another boat.
Its a difficult position because it reduces motivation levels.
I got it sorted.
In another life I would like the Pink Shrimp but its much too big.

I sometimes wonder how many explosions on boats are due to gas leaks. There must be one or two a year. More often than not it seems the real culprit was a petrol leak. On boats with inboard petrol engines.
Thus the notion of everything powered by diesel is attractive, so long as diesel is readily available. Just one fuel to buy. I imagine that before very long batteries will become cheaper and of greater capacity; electric motors the same, so having an all-electric boat will become more easily achievable, which can only be a good thing unless you live in the Congo.
But the perfect boat...depends on what you want to do with it. It's much the same story with motorbikes (or anything else). There's no one machine which excels at everything. In an ideal world of plenty there would be a garage with several different bikes of various types.

A classic wooden boat would be lovely so long as I was steenkin rich and could afford to pay the most talented carpenter on the planet to do all the work.

If money is no object then one could install a huge Lithium Titanate battery bank and cover every inch of non walking surface with the best solar money csn buy. Then fit two big MTU diesel engines for the propellers.

I say arse to your weird batteries. Personally I think one's very own nuclear reactor would be more appropriate. Refuel once every 30 years in North Korea.
