Almost a couple of hours from Paddington on public transport ... don't think it's likely when we have limited time in London and lots to do, but thank you.
It looks a terrific place for a day out one day.

I think you've an unfair advantage on this thread β Admiral, being on the Thames. I photo'd a boat sat on the bottom at the top of Hatton, but being a canal and less than 4 feet deep, it didn't even look sunk. Rog Yes. One issue of interest is the potential to encounter Boats which are completely submerged. A reasonably large Dutch barge got stuck on a tree in a lock cut. The lock keeper had been told about it by a tug driver who hit it so he had marked it with some white fenders. The barge got stuck on it for about an hour. So as I progress slowly up the River it will be interesting to see if there is anything dodgy. There is a general harbourmaster notice about potential for hazardous objects especially trees. Someone has already found an almost completely submerged Boat at Reading. What would be very bad would be a submerged steel Boat. Could do some serious damage. The stem and forefoot on Dulcinea is made of a solid piece of 1 inch thick steel plate but I still don't want to collide with anything hard other than deliberate ramming.

I watched a crafty old sod empty the contents of that boat into a flash motor just weeks ago. It's been there years.... First photo just a couple of miles away outside the cheese factory near Calveley, Andyberg?

Ok so it's an insurance job...I'm not actually thinking of acquiring it, for one thing just getting any details on it could be interesting to say the least; I doubt CRT would tell you over the phone...just idly wondering what value a burnt-out sunken 35-ish foot boat could be worth. Given that you would probably have to salvage it yourself...but the gunwales are above the water so...hmm...3k? Is that a silly estimate?
