I don’t see the email as threatening, but I do think it was an over-reaction which makes CRT look a bit silly. People mouth off aplenty on social media, but it rarely comes to anything and if an organisation is going to spend time reacting to every “off-message” post on social media, they are going to be very busy. Don't entirely disagree, however it looks more like an 'over reaction' because the e mail has been made public. Just a private communication between C&RT and a guy threatening publicly to block a waterway as a protest, and I still think it is not an unreasonable response. However, I think we're all agreed that it's not threatening Out of interest, the fb thread has continued, as have the threats to block the waterway , so he wasn't too intimidated 😁 Rog FAO : Alice < thunderboat.boards.net/post/393040/thread >

So yet again people on here are arguing over one word, whilst ignoring the underlying issues. What about crt not maintaining the waterways to the dimensions they where built. Then creating t&c’s that excuse them from having to maintain the waterways to a navigable standard. I have to hand it to crts pr dept. They are world class, the job they’ve done on dividing the boating community is incredible. People are even making exscuses and defending crt on the internet. Wow.

This thread (the title of which was changed to side step your original point) related to London boaters group complaining about C&RT making a 'threatening email ' in response to a 'jest' about boaters publicly threatening to block a waterway in protest due to poor, or insufficient maintenance. The same boaters group are having a protest rally in London over the weekend to complain about increased charges. Do you not see a contradiction ? Rog

Rather, any hope in maintaining the system demands increased charges ... council tax up by an average of 5% a year gives an indication of rising costs, not necessarily improved service.
The point really is that you can't sensibly demand cost reductions and improvements.

Who might not be a member of the group organising the protest on sat. You are conflating to separate things and making presumptions. Maybe you should check your facts before posting?

The issue people seem to be having with my post is the use of the word threatening. Ive re-read the email crt sent in response to the fb post. It definately contains threats in the definition of the term. How threatening is another matter( I personally wouldn’t feel threatened.) But they are threats and a total over reaction from a charity. The comparisons people have made to goverment depts are pointless as crt are not a goverment body. I suppose its a public relations issue, is this a good way to treat paying customers? The real issue crt failing to maintain the waterways to their original dimensions ( which has been ignored to concentrate on the word “threatening,”) is an on going issue. No one seems to be concerned that crt have exscused them selves from even keeping the waterways navigable through dubious use of t&c’s. I realise that some people on here would like to keep the illusion of everything being okay on the waterways but unfortunately this is not the case. If people don’t stop blaming other waterways users for the problems and realise the real cause of the issues then the waterways are truly fucked. But that’s okay because you have had your enjoyment out of them and you’ll be dead before the final collapse. So your alright jack.

I'm alright Jack.
In 30 yars of having Boats on canals I got away with only paying about £135k to BW and the CRT. Bargain.
I'm actually leaving because I never much liked canals in the first place there were just circumstances which collided and caused an outcome.
Tonight may well be my last night sleeping on a Boat floating on CRT water.
Where did the yars go?
All rather shocking.

No one made you take the mooring. It’s not as if you had to earn the money. Easy come easy go.

Sorry kris but I don't see much point asking what our thoughts are if you're just going say I'm wrong. They remain my opinions whether you agree or not and your opening post was related to C&RT being threatening. Rog

I’m interested though, how much of that was the mooring £100,000?
