Sorry kris but I don't see much point asking what our thoughts are if you're just going say I'm wrong. They remain my opinions whether you agree or not and your opening post was related to C&RT being threatening. Rog You’ve stated things as facts without any evidence to prove them. That’s wrong, what ever you think. You confused a fb group with a national boaters organisation. You claim there are no threats in the email from crt, when there are. So I’m afraid Alice you are not correct all the time, which means your wrong.

I’m interested though, how much of that was the mooring £100,000? More. I probably got my math wrong. It has been a very expensive exercise having a London mooring for over a decade. Oh dear. All that beer money! What is the world coming to?

I understand why Tony calls it you now. Geniune question. Are you ok Kris. You mentioned a while back you had been struggling with things.
Please ignore if you think this is a personal attack, it isn't meant that way.

Thank you. We don't agree ... that's all. I'll ensure not to upset you again 👍🏻 Rog You and some other people on here have had privileged life’s. Ever increasing standards of living and increasing life expectancy. No real trouble finding employment and been able to buy property at reasonable rates. A seamlessly never ending supply of natural resources, cheap plentiful food. These are the times you’ve lived through. Those days are gone and most of the youth in this country are quite royally fucked. No chance of owning property, no secure employment and shit wages if you have got a job. That once you’ve paid your rent and bills leaves nothing to save and might not even meet your bills. This being the societal background. Some youngsters have seen a way out of this trap. A way to own their own home and not have to work 60 hrs a week to pay someone else’s mortgage. Maybe also to have a more adventurous life, closer to nature. Instead of having being seen as the next generation of boat owners welcomed as new blood by the boating community. Lots have been vilified and ridiculed for not being able to afford shiny boats etc. Now that these people are seeing living on the waterways being attacked and undermined by the very authority meant to look after the waterways. They have organised themselves and are fighting for the survival of the way of life and survival of the waterways as a navigable network. But instead of maybe supporting them, people choose to ridicule and belittle them. Okay that’s your choice, but what I’m saying is maybe you should have some gratitude for the life and opportunities that you’ve had and be a little more understanding of other peoples situations? I know that’s a lot to ask in the post thatcher me me me, there’s no such thing as society reality that we live in. But just excepting that the world has changed, it’s not the world of even 20 years ago will be a start. Ps Nothing I have posted in this thread is condoning or supporting the piss takers that don’t pay licence fees and don’t move at all. Crt is not working on any level. They are not safeguarding the continued existence of the waterways and are not looking after the interests of their paying customers. So what are they doing?

Yes, the situation with the natural environment is going to go crunch pretty soon, so it doesn’t really matter. The issue with the waterways is a first world problem anyway, compared to what people in Gaza or sundan must be feeling at the moment. Not to mention the people of Ukraine or Myanmar.

The Great Day of Judgment is coming.
Repent repent!
For whom the bell tolls.
It might be okay.
Humans are devilishly clever.

Thinking about it the thread title is pretty apt for the human condition except it should be “ whilst deliberately missing the point.” It seems to be what the politicians and business execs have done about the looming environmental disaster for the last thirty years which is at the least the amount of time we’ve known about the environmental issues. But they’ve just sat around talking about who’s responsible and who’s going to pay. Well that’s after the denial process which was at least 20 years. They all think their wealth is going to insulate them and protect them. It will for a while but not for ever.

They are not safeguarding the continued existence of the waterways and are not looking after the interests of their paying customers. So what are they doing? If you deny it or not. Most people have had more opportunity than lots of youngsters today. My self included, the difference being I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and can empathise. Where as most people on here don’t give a fuck because they are alright jack. No worse than don’t give a fuck, demonise and dehumanise people by use of widespread generalisations. Terms such as “piss takers, free loaders etc.) It’s only one step from dehumanising people to rounding them up and putting them in camps. Maybe that’s what we should do round up all the poor people so we don’t have to see them? These are very common techniques used by every authoritarian regime there’s ever been. First “other,” one section of the society dehumanise and demonise them. This will give the rest of the population a target to aim their anger at rather than yourselves. The oldest trick in the book, I just can’t believe that in the 21st century, supposedly intelligent people still fall for it.
