Came up from Aynho to Kings Lock this morning. Pissing down all the way. The board was just below red at Aynho Weir lock (green on Tues morning) and got under Nell Bridge with less than a foot to spare. Love boating.

Spent last week up the Ashby. One morning, when I got up, the cabin temperature was 31C with just a very faint glow still in the stove. Can't remember what coal I was using but it sure as hell burnt too hot for a 40ft boat.

Bugsworth is nice but the centre moorings were ankle deep in goose deep when I was there a few years back.

While I was down the engine hole sorting out a different problem, I noticed that the cable loom going to the alternator controller needed attention. There are several in-line connections that are ok (ish) but they are very greasy and the insulation tape that was wrapped around them has peeled off. Before I remake the crimps I'd like to degrease about 300 mm of cables. Any suggestion as to what degreasing agent to use? Years ago I used to use Trichlorethelene but I think that's now banned.

I'm surprised they're not suggesting that smokey old boat diesel engines are included in with the latest super congestion charge for central London announced earlier this week, and charge us £12 a day for the pleasure.

Just received the same. But it says Tuesday 30 March ... which wasn't a Tuesday ... however 30 April is a Tuesday. I'm guessing they can't even get the date right Rog Ha Ha..... hadn't noticed that. You're probably right 😂

Just received email inviting me to partake in boaters survey. Was about to click the *start* button when I spotted that the survey closes on 30rh March. So I won't bother. Muppets!

I can't be arsed to reverse engineer the maths at this time of night but I remember them being 8 for an old (pre-decimal) penny? there were two or three "chews" that went for the same amount and in the late 40's they were 4 for a penny .... hence "farthing chews" (and farthings were still in use at that time)
eta and you still needed coupons for them I remember them as 4 for a penny. Just about remember farthings but not coupons. However my favourites were always liquorice bootlaces, and sherbert filled flying saucers. Weren't Spangles also sold individually in those good old days when we had bugger all and were grateful for it?

We had a rodent in the garden and wasn't sure if a rat or mouse. So I searched *how to tell the difference between a rat and a mouse* . The next time I logged on the pop up adverts for the majority of sites were selling rat traps. Spoooooky!

I learned just enough bits of it to scrape me through ...... then promptly forgot it all It's like a hell of a lot I was taught in electronics ..... by the time I got out in the world of industry most of the stuff I had learned was obsolete Like flip flop logic Phil Far too modern, going through circuits with a hundred or so Uniselectors was far more interesting 🤓
