was that photo strictly necessary? you really can be a prize prick sometimes. The Chinese are not fluffy and cuddly. Yet everyone buying Chinese products are supporting their evil so-called 'Communist Party'. Still, bury your head in the sand, pretend the Uighurs aren't being tortured and having their organs removed. there you go - generalising from a point of view of extreme ignorance about a nation of a billion souls.
if you are referring to the ruling party then please say so.
having worked alongside hundreds of Chinese technicians and engineers over a total period of 4 years I can assure you that many of them are quite 'fluffy and cuddly' to use your phrase.

And just what is wrong for exposing China as an empire of evil? Perhaps you too will be cursing them when you are drowning in your own mucus in a hospital corridor. Have you not read about their 'Cultural Revolution'? "in rural China alone some 36 million people were persecuted" A nation of absolute nutters. Not to mention their invasion of Tibet and their persistent threats to Taiwan/Formosa. I see the people of Hong Kong don't like their new masters either. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Revolution#Death_toll And it might not be very long until dissenters are shipped off to China for 're-education'. They already have a hand in running the universities and press of the UK - and now want to control the UK communications network through Huawei. in view of the anathema that China appears to represent in your mind I trust that you never ever buy or use anything made in that despicable country, and buy or use nothing that incorporates Chinese components.
oh, sorry, dump your computer, phone, car, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, ............................................ I could go on.

OK, challenge ahead: my electrics leave a lot to the imagination, I now have three x 135ah new agm domestic batteries at the stern, two older agms at bow on a separate line, these are used to charge electronics. The existing solar works in bright sunlight, but I have to use engine to charge them if fridge is ON and it is cloudy. I now have to consider swapping existing solar set up for my new one, a two panel x 275W panels with 40amp controller. I intend to replace existing panels, wiring and controller, I am not sure where to start! Wouldn't your best plan be to leave the existing solar panels in situ and to increase the total generating capacity by installing the new ones on any sufficiently large vertical interior surface that you normally stand or sit facing away from ? you forgot to mention the ceiling !

I really don't understand this pre-occupation with numbers at this interim stage in the first cycle of infections. Whilst I have immense sympathy for anyone losing a loved one under these difficult circumstances, the only indicative figures that mean anything are figures that show a trend - rising or falling. Those trends will be generally similar regardless of how the numbers are counted. We hear various estimates of predicted deaths, from 40,000 to 500,000. All we can do at this stage is to ride the storm and hope things get clearer over the next few months.

France 17,920. UK 14,576. Figures updated 20 minutes ago. The UK figure does NOT include Those that died in care homes from Covid 19 Those that died in hospital from Covid 19 but were untested Those that died in hospital from Covid 19 with an indeterminate test result Those that died at home from Covid 19 In other words its the minimum number that the government could get away with putting up therewhat a load of crap.
why would they be interested in minimising the deaths when they are trying to get everyone on board on the lockdown?
why would they want to minimise the number while they want to justify why we should not ease the restrictions at this time?
do you think they could get away with counting all the deaths that MIGHT be associated with coronavirus ?
how does anyone know how many died untested in hospital, or at home or in care if the attending GP doesn't have the facility to do a test?
go on - knock them as much as you wish. you will be the loser.

I think it can be worse than war in some ways. At least with war you know what's happening and can get on and sort it out in whatever way you want to. Ok there are helpless victims but people who can help are enabled to help. Everyone is different. Some people would prefer to make ammo boxes and field telephones others would prefer to go and kill the enemy with guns. In this situation you get a vast number of people with different behaviours asked to all do the same thing. For some people this will be very damaging, others less so but the point is that there is no enemy. It's a medical problem not people throwing bombs around. It's no wonder it causes conspiracy theories to arise. have you never heard of the Blitz and spending all night every night in bomb shelters?
no choice - get out of your home and find shelter - now! - or else!!

Should they be forced to sign that? Yes. At gunpoint. Definitely. ............. and tattoo everyone who has the vaccine on the forehead.
if you ain't got a tattoo you ain't getting into 'orsepiddle.
we should have learned by now that all this new-fangled government by consent is exactly why we have problems managing our response to the virus.
about time they put the country on a wartime footing - if you are a conchy then you are sent to work in the fields in social isolation.

And why has this word 'novel' turned up all of a sudden? We have the 'novel' virus, the UK Government wants a 'novel organisation' dedicated to keeping people indoors and dictating 'The Law' to them... because novel means new. it's a newly evolved virus.

one of the conditions to be met before relaxing the lockdown is apparently eliminating the risk of a 'second spike'.
that sounds entirely unrealistic, given that the government previously published charts showing a series of peaks continuing to the end of the year.
how will we ever avoid a second wave of infections if we do not maintain a substantial lockdown?

The recently released stats looked decidedly worrying in this respect. Only one weeks worth of data to go on so not really evidence of any sort of trend yet (still a bit scary in regards record numbers of people dyeing though). I'm assuming you are looking at the latest ONS data from April 3rd. Yes, looks like around 5000 more deaths than normal. Strangely the number of deaths reported to be due to Covid-19 over that week is about half that number. I thought this has already been determined - care homes do not report C-19 deaths because they do not administer the death certificate, unlike hospitals.
GPs attend the home to confirm the death and write a certificate without doing a C-19 test, and typically enter - "fraility of old age" or summat like that.

Dear Foxxy,
You may well be of the opinion that all the residents of the UK are unaware of the current circumstances and have no means of accessing the news.
I do realise that the UK has only recently achieved the status of being what is generally known as a developed nation, but I can assure you that a Brit living in the UK has just as much access to the news as an emigrant from the UK who has chosen to live in a cold hostile flat featureless landscape somewhere on the north-eastern part of Europe bordering on the old Russian empire.
We really do not need you to dredge up random quotations illustrating the foibles of our homely little nation, and we certainly don't need to read a load of stuff, much of it total crap, that is unattributed to any responsible source or indeed any source at all.
For all we know these anecdotes could have been posted on soshulmeedya my Stabby's neighbour's daughter-in-law or a survivor of the Monster Raving Looney Party.
If you are bored then may I humbly suggest you go and count the cobblestones between Hell Sinki and some other god-forsaken place, and publish the results on face-whatsit, but don't waste your time publishing old corny points of view and other crap that is being ignored by the more selective members of this forum.
unpatronisingly yours,
A Bodger.

read up on websites like Bimble and (dare I say it) the other channel.
when you have formulated a plan come back and ask for critique by the members here.
