it's just the same walking along the pavement of some of the residential streets round here. More cars parked up than usual 'cos no-one's going to work, and the pavement is often COMPLETELY blocked by some asshole parking on the pavement (usually outside their own house that has a wide driveway that is apparently reserved for other unknown purposes). On several occasions I have taken issue with the car owner when they were evident and the universal response is "I can do what I want on the pavement (footpath) outside my own property. You have no right to walk along it." For a young mum with a double buggy it must be hell.
WTF is wrong with people these days? If you ask me it's too much entitlement passed on to these slobs, without any hint of discipline that should go with entitlement, by the politically-correct do-gooders who seem to be in the forefront of every issue these days. Human rights turned on its head.
Whatever you do, as you struggle to get past, don't brush accidentally against their wing mirror with your hip, or even worse, scratch the car. The latter would be very bad. Hasn't pavement parking been made illegal in Londonland? Hopefully the rest of the country will follow soon. no I would never do that - nor flip the front and rear wipers up (unfortunately with some new cars the front ones are inaccessible).
AFAIK in France it is (or was) legal and regulated. I believe you must leave 1 metre clear between the car and the wall or building so that double buggies can get through, and folk can walk past in both directions without too much inconvenience. ................ or that may just be an urban myth.

I hope everybody is planning to join in with the doorstep round of applause for Amazon delivery drivers. This will take place between 09:00 and 18:00 tomorrow. "those who stand outside clapping on command through peer pressure. Some people can appreciate the NHS without clapping like a spastic, signalling their virtue like some attention-seeking twat. Years and yearsβ¦decades in fact of the NHS being slated, complained about, front line staff being chastised as inefficient and uncaring in a system that is, quite frankly, unworkable. Now, however, Joe Public have suddenly realised that the NHS are worthy of praise in the midst of a pandemic. I actually find it quite ridiculous, as well as deeply hypocritical. They could have been praising them up until now. Why does it take a global crisis for people to suddenly see the NHS and its staffβs worth? Why the sudden applause? Because they are dealing with sick people? Newsflash: they have always done that. Because they are overrun and over-worked with the sheer number of sick people they are treating and trying to save? They have always done that too. Because they are working in tenuous conditions with limited means, limited staff and limited downtime? Yes, thatβs right. they have always done that too. Mawkish, sentimental, virtue-signalling bollocks. Do we have to keep demonstrating to health sector workers that we donβt despise them? And, of course, it costs nothing which, in my view, makes it worth nothing." another string of words with quotation marks at each end.
your point is?
if you're gonna quote somebody give them credit.
if you're not quoting someone then drop the quotation marks.
it's normal and it's courteous.

the kind of behaviour exhibited by the lady in the park which is expressly forbidden. those who insist on doing it are being branded as unpatriotic and we have been warned that if this type of behaviour continues then even the 'privilege' of exercising in a public place may be withdrawn. Rubbish. I am simply saying that Sophie Raworth shouldn't be out spitting and shaking her sweat off all over the streets of London. She should be at home doing her TV stuff by video. Yes - why is 'exercising' (stopping to take photos to enhance your career!) allowed out in public? If the lady in the park should lock herself up at home, then everybody should, no exceptions. By the way - what of the homeless? To what home are they supposed to go to? All I see is you jumping on the 'virtual signalling' bandwagon, at which I am surprised as you used to have a mind of your own. Mass hysteria has got to you. quite frankly foxxy, in the current situation no-one gives flying f*ck what you think.
the law is the law.
Raworth was within the law.
if everyone had 'a mind of their own' in the current situation we would have a condition known as anarchy.
I thought I had explained that earlier.

if you were a resident of the UK you wouldn't have to ask. I don't comment about how lock-down is managed in Finland, why do you think it is useful to comment on what happens in my country?
If you really don't understand why Sophie is permitted to do what she is doing then you are out of touch with UK regulations. Obviously your subscription to the Daily Fail has lapsed.
Since when has the UK been 'your' country. It is as much mine as yours, for I too have a UK Passport. My dad went with the British Navy to Ceylon to fight the Japs in WW2, and his father fought in WW1 & WW2. I retain my position in that if anyone else isn't allowed out, such as in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales miles from another soul, Sophie shouldn't be jogging on the streets of London. She should be arrested. Feel free to comment on Finnish politicians' incompetence too - after all, we do live in the 'Global Community' and 'Diversity is our strength'. It's a free world. Until the Communist Party of China clamps down. if you really consider it is your country then you are an unpatriotic eejit because it would seem you encourage the kind of behaviour exhibited by the lady in the park which is expressly forbidden. those who insist on doing it are being branded as unpatriotic and we have been warned that if this type of behaviour continues then even the 'privilege' of exercising in a public place may be withdrawn.
clearly you have your own views on what should and should not be allowed in the current emergency, and would like to replace the government's instructions with your own version. if it was 'peacetime' then your viewpoint would be held to be rebellious and anarchistic, but in view that we are effectively on a 'war' footing it is nothing less than traitorous.
if you want to retain links with the UK then keep up at the back and understand what life in 2020 is all about ...................or alternatively stay in your chosen country of residence and mind your own business.
........... and I am not interested in the slightest in the way Finland is governed.

"you are a right little shit, aren't you? Raworth is as far as you and I know, complying with the instructions 100%. a person relaxing in the sun is not." Can you tell us how running (and spitting as she goes along?) in the street is potentially spreading the coronavirus less than someone sitting in a park? if you were a resident of the UK you wouldn't have to ask. I don't comment about how lock-down is managed in Finland, why do you think it is useful to comment on what happens in my country?

If there is anyone out there that thinks they can annexe a section of public towpath for their own use then I'm sure they will be disabused of this notion in short order. it's just the same walking along the pavement of some of the residential streets round here. Finland is on 'lockdown' of a sort, so we will see if this has had any effect on the spread of Covid-19 in a few weeks... if any of the statistics / what comes out of the government's mouth can be believed. Fact is that I know of no-one who has Covid-19 up our way - or in Finland. Pirkko's brother was in hospital in January with very-C-19 symptoms and almost died - when/if the antibody (?) testing comes round, he should have that done to see if he has C-19 antibodies in his blood. Then, in January, we hadn't really heard of C-19, or it wasn't in-your-face News. Schools in Finland have been closed for 2.5 weeks now. The border of Uusimaa was closed a week ago (a huge chunk of southern Finland where there are the most C-19 cases). In Lapland they have been making a fuss about people crossing the Finnish-Swedish border, a lot of people want that stopped; C-19 cases in Sweden are going up like crazy. Finland's border is closed, Norway's border is closed. There is freedom for us to drive anywhere apart from into Uusimaa. There is no shortage of food, drink, fuel, or toilet paper (yet). The roads are noticeably quieter, and there are no groups of people hanging around (too bloody cold anyway!). I am still of the opinion that a 'shutdown' of everything is an interesting thing to try out. But, yes, now there are THOUSANDS of people out of work because of this, here in Finland, and the unemployment benefits system is swamped and cannot cope. Also, the whole thing has been somewhat of a farce, with no-one wearing masks in shops, and planes continually landing from Spain, Italy and China, as well as other C-19 hotspots like LONDON! Just to sum up the situation as of the present. It is also ridiculous that Finland is not manufacturing its own masks / protective suits - these could be made of paper that could be burnt after use. dilligaf?

It's pretty dodgy if it does get into feline population as some people like cats. I don't and would not miss them but imagine if it was decided that domestic cats were a danger. Bye bye cats. agree.
I like the cheetahs at Longleat but that's about as far as it goes.
