I suspect that the people commenting about my crimper possibly didn't read the sizes it would crimp .... or possibly 630 mm2 doesn't register Hi John, I'm really terribly sorry if I hurt your feelings (badly) joking about your crimping tool, of which I'm sure it's "The Bee's Knees".
If it's German, it can't be anything but good, as they haven't learned yet how to produce crap.(in general)
But it's horribly expensive, unless you're a full time battery terminal crimper of course, I look at everything and the prices tools cost a lot more careful nowadays than many years ago, my retirement pension doesn't allow me anything, as it's less than my fixed expenses.
I love to see-and work with first class Equipment, but if I can't rent the tool I need, I have to do with the best I can afford, which would quite likely be a third hand Chinese tool, recuperated out off a landfill.
Peter.

Good Morning Peter, No you didn't hurt my feelings (much) I bought it for my company about 8 years ago when I got a contract to install 6 standby generators and the associated auto changeover equipment (One of them included building a complete new intake power room rated for 900 Amps as well) I worked out, that if I hired, by the end of the contract I would have bought it 3 times over, the same with the Tirfors we used for cable hauling. When I closed the company and retired, all interesting or useful tools I kept. I couldn't even begin to guess how many hundreds (probably more like thousands now) of crimps they have done, even since I "retired ha ha" both on the tugs and workboats I get persuaded to work on and down here in the boatyard where I live. Anybody who wants cables crimping either brings me the cables or borrows the crimper (dependant on how much I trust them, some down here can't be trusted with anything more complex than a hammer .... and even then ) Oddly the Tirfors, which I expected to be very useful have sat in the engine room stores unused. ...... (still I'll keep them filed in the bound to come in useful one day section)

Also I can see that your investment in this very expensive tool was worth it because of all the crimping you had to do with this tool, and that justfied largely the investment, it's much easier if you have to buy gear for a business, as it go's in the accounts, it's money you have to spend to run your business.
Now that you're not in business anymore, it's still a magic gadget to own, for any jobs you have to do for yourself, or to help friends and neigbours with if needed.
My memory has always been very good (not as good anymore now) the only thing I've never managed to store in it has been the tools and money I used to help friends and other people with in the days I could afford to do that (long gone) and never wrote anything down, as many people (even so called friends) can't be trusted, I don't think I got even half of it back, still that's my own fault for trusting everybody all the time.
People can still borrow my tools now (no more money), but I will come along with the tools, and make sure I take them with me when I leave.
Peter.

Peter.
if you don't learn from experience, then you learn nothing. You are absolutely right Kris, but as I used to trust everybody, I didn't think that it was fair because of only 1 bad person, to treat the others all the same.
In reality there were many more bad persons around me, but as they say : "You live and learn" (often the hard way).
Peter.

I don't think that I would like me as much..... if I didn't trust people ......... I would rather risk being let down occasionally than becoming suspicious of everybody

The only time my tools get used for others is if I go with them and do the job myself, otherwise it's a no.
