Well, with the new year comes a couple of new projects. We are in the process of implementing a four year plan to get Ananda ship shape and ready to go out and cruise the canal system and other rivers, so I've made a list of improvements and mods we wish to make before we do this. As a result, one area I can tackle at work is the manufacture of a couple of Danforth anchors and appropriate stowage. I've already researched weights and dimensions so the plasma cutter will be put to work. I'm going for two so I've no worries as to what end to store it, and I think with some careful thought to stowage they will both be accessible and usable in an emergency. I will be using steel that complies with the EN1090 structural standards and will have them galvanised. The other project, as Debbie bought me a bike for my birthday, is to make a bike rack that will fit the stern behind the tiller to take two bikes. I have a rough idea in my head of how I want to make it, using round tubular steel, galvanised and then powder coated to the same ral colour as the boat. I will, as I get things underway, endeavour to post progress pics up here for anyone interested...🙂

Bottom blacking and another top coat on the roof, otherwise we are out and about. Oh a new boatman stove and tiling behind, replace chimney too. Maybe fit a solar panel, got the wiring in place already.
Larkboy, are you using it while all your jobs happen? Hope so, 4 years is to long to go without a cruise!

The plan is four years because the mortgage has three years left to run, then a year to save like crazy! Upon return I'm going to be e freelance welder/engineer as I'm sure I can get enough employment in a year to pay the bills and still get some serious cruising in, and me and the wife will be 55 and want to do it before we're to old and infirm..😉

Wandering Snail had a good storage system, I will try and find a photo fond a photo but its a bit small with the anchor let into the rear cabin side 3.bp.blogspot.com/_mtAuM01C4m4/Sjz8y3qJ7EI/AAAAAAAAANA/DYOLWQRv4Ok/s1600/june+2009+010.jpg

Retirement arrives for me in December and my original plans didnt start till then. Elounda has a large rear deck with one small silly deck board which means to access batteries and other on the counter items you have to half lay across the engine and shuffle your self under the deck to get at anything, so the plan was to have the boat out on the hard early next year for hull blacking and get the yard to also cut new holes in the deck to allow better access. Also the sprogs are getting bigger and there will come a time when they will want their own cabins so a major internal refit was also considered during the year......that has now been put on hold as an idea, We are considering moving north to my native Lancashire, Spending money from my comutation on a house and selling the boat.
