I understand that CRT are no longer issuing paper licences. Is there any obligation to display a current licence that expires in February 2017, and also is there any obligation to display a mooring licence? If not I will get rid of them as they make the boat look tatty and obscure the view from inside.

I mentioned on another thread, I relicensed in October, and the requested paper licences didn't arrive.
I chased them up, and received simple non colour print outs within days.
In discussion with the licensing lady, she said that display of a paper licence remained a legal requirement, although the 'bosses' wanted to progress as quickly as possible to removing them (like the tax disc on cars).
Because of the confusion, she considered that if your number was displayed it wouldn't matter about the paper licence.
Never the less, I put mine in the windows.

never had any trouble with CRT although I have had emails telling me to haul ass after 14 days!! If a boat has been moored more than 14 days for no good reason, how about a fine of 10 Pounds for every day overstayed? Just like being in a Waitrose car park? What's wrong with that?

Sounds a good move to me..I'd happily abide by that ruling if I didn't pay mooring fees alreadyπ

Because you could pick a spot and rent it for 365 x Β£10 which in some places would count as cheap.

Bit like the winter mooring trial they had? If it was priced to not out price nearby marina's and a portion was for the local council to quarm the council tax payers and the extra to fund decent boat facilities in the area?

Thought this a suitable thread to slip this is. What is Canal Planner these days? It looks like the boat list needs updating:
This is what we get for our boat: (Last updated on Wednesday 22nd May 2013) Time for a revamp of the site?
