...and you put your point across with elegance and passion! Thing is Nick, if you support your argument and try to get people on the defensive with ridiculous insinuations, then when you realise you've lost it, try and cover up losing face by saying something that's likely to offend people, that's hardly going to win you much respect, is it? Bit like Trump, the latest furore means no one is talking about the alleged golden shower videos, but his actions aren't earning much respect from the majority, are they? I find your post a bit difficult to follow as I'm struggling to get past "ridiculous insinuations". Can you point me to those insinuations, and also if possible how/when I realised I'd lost it, and my attempted cover up? Your post makes perfect sense except that it doesn't seem to relate to anything that went on in this thread.

Unfortunately, the entire capitalist system, particularly post industrial revolution, depends on a constant increase in population. I can't see it being indefinitely sustainable, but I imagine Mother Nature will find her own way of dealing with it when she becomes sufficiently pissed off about our abuse of her planet![http://www.susps.org/images/worldpopgr.gif](http://www.susps.org/images/worldpopgr.gif) Yeah AIDS, Ebola etc etc. And don't forget the gays, they're trying to do their bit too!

I thought the same On one hand I'm annoyed I've achieved zero at home or on the boat, on the other I've watched some ace stuff - old horizon and time shift programmes, everything that's available for Nairn and I luckily caught the lovely Prof Alice Roberts in Britain's Pompeii - it's about the spectacular round house settlement found at Must Farm near Whittlesey, the programme became unavailable yesterday morning, well pleased I saw that before it got pulled. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07myxwsanother 3 part series well worth watching is the one about Britain's Ancient Capital ........stoneage Orkney ...... fascinating stuff have to agree John it was a very interesting programme, I've wanted to go to Orkney for a while. But I'm definately going to make the effort now.

And don't forget the gays, they're trying to do their bit too! Well, actually you are right, the lifestyle choice which means you will not reproduce is simply Darwinism at its most basic.

Talking of the L&L I've been on my deathbed with flu and have managed to see plenty of good stuff on the iPlayer www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01rwfkmThere's a fair bit of good stuff that Nairn has done, including a dig at the NDC for starting the rot in Northampton in '72 Can I get a set up so I can play these kind of things on the telly along with Youtube ? Better to watch than crap on thats on telly.

You post that almost as though I might not have heard it before. Anyway, god's plan to exterminate the gays has failed miserably since we have antivirals and now PREP. But anyway, isn't AIDS predominantly a heterosexual disease? Well it certainly is in Africa anyway

You read it how you want too. I was merely quoting an acronym I heard many years ago.

OK, I'll accept that and stand corrected. However it is a valid point that you were once a child, your parents were once children, your grandparents were once children, and so on and so on for millennia, yet it has been decided, for whatever reason, to make you the point at which your genetic code hits the buffers. The central tenet of Darwinism is "survival of the fittest" and for whatever reason, God or nature has decided that you personally flunked the exam.

Can I reiterate
the boats are licensed, insured and have a boat safety (can't have the former without the latter)
the LEGISLATION expressly permits licensing a boat without a home mooring
mooring restrictions of less than 14 days DO NOT feature in the legislation
the boaters continuously cruise but within a limited area to permit access to work / schools
they are entirely law abiding citizens and their actions do not in any way contravene the legislation
their 'offence' is that some nameless bureacrat has arbitrarily decided that the law requires more movement.
That's it. The case for the prosecution.
I for one, feel that there is no problem in these circumstances and that millions WILL NOT flock to do the same because boat living 'off grid' is damned hard work
Views expressed about 'these people'....'hoards of kids' ......'not paying attention at school' ......'poor life choices' have no part to play in the discussion.

Your post makes perfect sense except that it doesn't seem to relate to anything that went on in this thread. Mainly this: What would be wrong with a family setting up in a caravan in Hyde Park? Again, not an awful problem if there was just one. But if you make it an acceptable way to live, everyone will want a slice and then you end up with Hyde Park being turned into a caravan park and some sections of canal, typically near jobs and in expensive parts of the country, chockablock with static boats aka a linear housing estate, rendering those people who don't want to live in a boat but do want to use the canals for their designed pusrpose ie navigation, unable to do so. My careful rebuttal of a similar post somehow led to your tirade against children, and so on which I took for an admission you'd lost the argument.
