I quite like shopping so its not a problem but some of the bulky stuff can be annoying. Another annoying factor is that for one reason or another I have to buy beer every day as I am not good at storing it on the boat. So. When out boating in a variety of locations it is sometimes awkward to source beer. If, and it is a big IF, a supermarket would deliver to a named bridge with a postcode then one could combine the bulky bits with the awkward to acquire beer. Everyone's a winner

Never done it myself, but I know people who arrange Tesco deliveries to their boat. Tesco need a location with a post code, and I believe you book a time slot.
Maybe their web site can provide info.

Supermarkets will often deliver to bridges. I've not done itmyself, but know people that have had deliveries to bridges or pubs.
I have a similar issue with storing alcoholic beverages aboard.. it just seems to evaporate after one day.

I have found that if you are very careful and tightly screw the cap back on after each glass, a bottle of wine can sometimes be made to last for two or even three days !!! On the other hand, when I was young on trips to Murmansk we used to buy Stolichnaya vodka which had tear off tinfoil caps ...... it was always empty by the morning ...... I reckon it was so volatile that it used to evaporate while you were asleep !!!

There's a canal boat blogger, perhaps nb No Problem, who often mentions 'Mr Tesco' coming with their delivery. Our last order of 3 5-litre bottles of Morris Engine Oil was to The Navigation Inn, Sowerby Bridge - they were happy to take it in for us, and we were happy to dine there - good pub, recommended.

(First paragraph) And a look at the website might be worthwhile thanks for the suggestion Dogless. I can think of quite a few places on the upper Thames where a postcode and a location could be provided for a delivery but where the beer hunt is a real pita. More and more little shops ate closing or don't stock the vital products. If it were planned in advance I reckon this could be quite a clever arrangement. But I hate planning ! Anyway it is definitely worth looking into

Aldi where you will get the cheapest/best beer don't deliver! Full beer cupboard on Loddon, unopened for 29days and counting. When I am on the boat there is also 5kg less ballast than there used to be

Asda are quite good as they give you a fairly accurate ETA for the driver if you log on and check delivery status during your slot. In your shoes I'd get close by a pub or whatever use their address and keep a sharp eye out for the driver.
I've used em for home delivery for years. You can add addresses to your account so it needn't be one land based location only.
I havw never needed to use it on the boat as we can always get close by a shop if needed.

What is wrong with using the pub for beer? Beer, company and different views...
Yes I know cost comes into things.
