I look forward to meeting you both and giving you the chance of taking me up on the offer of drinks. I really liked the stamps on the package by the way.

We will be in your area in Summer and will hang about making sure you have several chances, heh!! There was talk about this book on Thunderboat earlier. Not really my kind of thing and a bit dated, but hang on to it, quite a rare book now. I'm not really into sea voyages as the sea is scary and there is disaster inevitably somewhere down the line. I've always had a fear of drowning, or thought I would die drowning. Now we own a canal boat but there is no fear of drowning with that as the canals haven't been dredged, thank you CRT!!
Funny this book just came up again, I have this book since '94 and started reading it again about 10 days ago, and enjoying it as if it was the first time.
One story in this book I like very much is the story starting on page 182 about "The £200 Millionaire".
In all the years I often read a chapter or two several times a year, because I admired what these people did, they've split up years ago now, but are both still sailing.
About your feeling safe on the canals because of their lack of dredging, I'm glad that you don't worry, but every years several good swimmers drown in canals only because they hit their head, or because of a thermal shock that stops them from swimming, and if there's no immediate help, it will sadly be the last chance they had to swim.
Peter.

Thanks again Ross, I'm really enjoying this book. While a lot of it is dated, the section on different boats is very interesting and I really like the writing style.

Good! Just a fun thing for me to do! It's yours to keep. By the way, having recently discovered these, have you listened to this?
And then I found this. Good view at 5:14

this is a fascinating thread. I do hope the book stays in your bookshelf in a prime position so you can take it out for a quick read now and then. I also hope kris and foxy get together for a bit of banter, lubrificated by some strong mead, not to far in the future. God bless the pair of you.

The drone footage is interesting, I can't believe how few boats are moored on the towpath.

Ross and Witchy are a lovely pair of people and and well worth meeting. If they are on the L and L or wherever maybe we could all try and meet up somewhere? With luck Jayne and I will be out this year for a few months maybe trying to get to Liverpool, we shall see how it pans out?
