Just joined and read some threads and posts and realised that the exact same questions are asked and answered by the same people on CWDF at roughly the same time. So which site is taking seriously and has any street cred on the canals?

It's a small world on the canals and navigable rivers of Britain, same news gets passed around, although here it's done with flair, charm, with and a certain 'je ne sais quoi'. Croissant, anyone?

Yes, but why post the same question on each? Their only getting the same answers from the same people.

Some current topics may be discussed on both forums for the obvious reasons that they are topical, others may be discussed on one or the other but not both. The essential difference between Thunderboat and CWDF is the moderation policy, it's up to you to decide which you prefer, but any forum where moderation policy alters depending on whether the poster concurs with the site owners's political beliefs isn't for me.

Can you give examples? I shall have to pop over and have a look at Canalworld. Some people are members of both forums. I think you will find there is quite a difference between the two forums. Do you know the history of how Thunderboat came about? If you are new to Thunderboat, I think you'll find we have a vociferous and somewhat unruly Welcoming Committee. It's nothing to be scared of, we don't dunk your head in the bogs or anything like that.

I suspect you do know the history but just in case you don't.
There are several people on this forum who were banned from canalworld and therefore can not reply to anything there (i'm not one of them). Ok so they could probably do sockpuppet accounts but thats not ideal and not to everyone's taste.
So your assertion that the same questions are answered by the same people is factually incorrect.
And anyway there are a limited number of topics when it comes to boats.
What sort of toilet do you have and how big is your domestic battery bank?
Typo edit

I only see the IWA thread (started by peterboat of both parishes) and the Tony Blair thread on Canalworld that seem to be similar to threads of the same name here.

So which site is taking seriously and has any street cred on the canals? This surely isn't surprising for two reasons, one being that some people are members of both forums and might well ask the same question or pose the same issue on both forums - and why not? And secondly because an issue can suddenly become topical and so different people might reasonably raise the same question or issue on different forums. And thirdly because there are different demographs of people on the two forums: CWDF is mostly leisure boaters whereas here is mostly chip shoulders weirdo militant anti-establishment liveaboards. And fourthly because no-one expects the Spanish Inquisition. Neither site is taken seriously compared to the other one, they are just different. I suspect neither has street cred on the canals since most people on the canals don't participate in either forum.

The legal threads are on both and you will end up with similar stuff on them.
The other stuff will have the same answers by the experts as they are the answers to the questions.
But here we do it with more style.

A thought just occurred to me, with 299 members the percentage of banned former CWDF members is now quite small. Still, why let the truth get in the way of a load of bollocks
