I have a big smartphone, no problem, I have big hands. Using it now. Email, calendar, to do list & memos, docs, camera, music, satnav, car fault diagnostics etc all in my hand. I also have a chromebook that does most of my other stuff, plus access to a pc when I need it. Everything backed up to Google. Vast improvement on 2 cans and a string when I were a lad.

I've never been comfortable with TV either, I have one now after my latest 5 year break. The content has nose dived and again it's more and more a continuous advert, by which I mean the programme content is for sector promotion, not interest. Be that canal, house, car related. I try to restrict myself to International sport, that way it stays mostly in the cupboard. Adverts are the reason we record all our watch stuff so when we play back we can fast forward and skip the ads. Phil

In 2015 the UK consumed 55.7 billion litres of oil for transport. There were 64.5 million people in the UK in 2015, so each person in the UK, on average, used something like 863.6 litres of oil, or 2.4 litres a day.
If you include non-transport use (in the UK thatβs mainly domestic heating and industrial use, and plastic manufacture), then it works out as about 3 litres per person per day.
So, in a Western country like the UK, youβll likely consume as much oil as water in every single day.

Actually Jane has a smart phone and is quite good at driving it.
They are incredible bits of kit in all seriousness.
But I do wish they'd sort the battery issues.

Some call them aspirational, I call it drumming up trade. Ones I dislike are the ones where people in London sell their pokey flat and buy a small village up North, but I guess it's about the only way money moves northwards so maybe I should approve.

I'd have to go back to school if I lost my iPhone. I decided to go large with a big one - I'll never go back to a little one!
