Well with all these strong gale force winds the trees still stand.....not that i wanted them to fall...not really...well maybe just a bit of one so the farmer would reduce height of the others..but no they wave and bend and creak n groan....sigh....

Damage report:-
I had a walk round after work, all we suffered at the club was two up ended gas BBQ's on my friends moorings. No boats in peril. All canopies survived.
Got home to find the cover blown off my BBQ, the dwarfs slide at the bottom of the garden and all the (thankfully empty!) Wheelie bins had been for a tour round the garden.

Blaster Bates tells a good story of blowing a tree up yet not blowing it up for a tenant farmer ('that takes some bloody working out I'll tell ya!') The farmer wanted it down, the estate didn't. I'll see if I can find it on YouTube tomorrow.

What news of trees down in the canals? How about the Llangollen Canal, has the wind blown all the water out of it?

Cruised to Tom o' the Wood moorings on GU at Turners Green.
Blue sky, sunshine and a lovely day until, we found a tree down across the canal and towpath. Bugger!
On the plus side I can get tv pictures here (weekends rugby) and it's a lovely spot within walking distance of shop, pub etc.
Could be worse.
We'll see how long the contractors take to clear it.

There were two trees down on the Slough Arm but CRT workboat Limehouse was quickly on the case. No other damage at the moorings except one or two TV aerials gave up the ghost

Not weather related afaik but a few years ago a William Hell sign above a bookies fell off the building and killed a pedestrian. Bad shit. I would have thought buildings would be constructed to tolerate high winds. I know about force majeure but does this sort of thing come under that definition? I wonder what their odds on that happening where.
