As I say peter, I’m sorry if I’ve caused you upset that would never be my intention. I’m just a human being, trying to make my way through life the best I can. But i definitely make mistakes and as you can tell my memory is getting worse. I’m working all the hours I can at the moment. (In fact I’ve got to go and work another 12hr night shift soon.) In the hope that I can get medlock out of the water next year and do all the repairs on the hull that it needs. So I have very little time at the moment for posting on here. Don't let the past keep you awake Kris, as you won't be able to change the past. We are all forgetting things from time to time, there's only 1 thing you should never forget, which is to breathe, as I've been told that could be fatal. Good luck earning the much needed money to enable you to do everything you want to do on "Medlock". Peter.

Have you been looking in your mirror again ? No because the shower cubicle is very small and quite awkward to get into on this boat and the only mirror is in there. But despite your suggestions I CAN SEE WHERE I AM GOING !

Me too, I can see where I'm going, even pretty good since the new glasses that I got 3 months ago Speaking of which I have an appointment with an optician at 4:00pm tomorrow - the last welding job for mouse yielded the fact my vision has deteriorated significantly over the last 6-12 months. I'll be sure to post just how close Mr Magoo and I are on the eyesight front tomorrow evening (all being I get home without crunching the car! 🙈)

I lost a lot of my once very good eyesight due to welding too, no fun !

I was happy for my hearing to drop off - that has the odd benefit (sorry dear,, what was that? I couldn't hear you....🙈😁) not so much the eyesight! That said I can still read a number plate from 20m so within the UK law for minimum standards for driving.
Night vision and glare (mainly due to the HID or Matrix not so smart dimming headlamps fitted to far too many German executive express nowadays) are a bit of an issue, I combat this by skulking about on the little used backroads away from the glare of the bellends in a hurry to get nowhere fast 😕

"Nowhere" is if you call hospitals and graveyards nowhere, as that's were they end up, and sadly enough they often take other road-users with them.

Evening bargemast - I know what you mean; my brother was once asked if he talked so loudly because he was deaf or he thought the rest of us were! - I’m fast getting by that too! Verdict is in on the vision front, I had a bit of a mild telling off by a very nice optometrist - turns out she was 9 years my senior and had grown up in my home town too. Apparently 15 years is too long since my last appointment - conservative guess is my recent deterioration of sight is probably more like a 5 year slide.... upshot of the visit is I’m under strict instructions to wear single vision glasses for the next 12-18 months and see how things go; by all accounts I’m far to young to be wearing Bi or Varifocals! I haven’t ended up with bottle bottom glasses and there is hope for my poor long suffering eyesight yet! Downside is it’s not a cheap hobby getting the world into focus - luckily Work will pick up the tab for the eye test and my prescription safety glasses, leaving me to pay for some specs that will allow me to read, drive and watch the idiot lantern a bit more comfortably than I have done in the recent past (who am I kidding - for the last god knows how long!)

Hi gazza- good to know that your eye problems will hopefully be sorted one you've got the prescribed glasses, and as you are still fairly young, your eyes may recover. If all that you'll need after that is simple reading glasses, well these cost next to nothing in bargain shops, I've seen them here for less than 1 €. I think that it's quite important to get regular eye-check-up's, as like in my case my eye sight had gone down little by little without me paying much attention to tired eyes and head-aches that were caused by this, after I had my visit at the opthalmologist and the right glasses, my head-ached disappeared, and a new world opened up. Hope that you'll have the same experience, once you've got your glasses. Good luck, Peter.

@gazza
My wife has 3 pairs of glasses One for driving One for reading (actually 5pairs scattered about the place) and One for watching TV. She never has the right set with her🥱
Me I have varifocals so only have one pair of glasses that are always with me so I never need to worry.
Due to hearing damage, from you know what, I also have to wear hearing aids, good thing is I can turn them off from my phone when I get fed up with people.🤫
