Sometimes when moored there will be contact from another boat sometimes due to wind, beer, skipper incompetence or other unexpected factors such as a fit bird on the towpath or a prop foul.
Anyway whatever the reason how do you feel about it?
I don't mind a light stroke but heavy impacts are definitely bad form. I have steel boats (apart from my dinghy and kayak) so I'm not as likely to sustain damage as some might be.
Is this too boring.

I hate bumps.
Especially on women's chests.
Light strokes can be pleasant.

I try not to mind, and it's easier when an apology is included.
I suppose as with most things, it's a question of politeness.

I don't subscribe to "it's a contact sport" but it's inevitable, however there should always be an apology, it need only be a "oops sorry about that" that will do for me. Phil

Oddly when I was on the Lark I clouted someones boat. They were moored on the outside of a fairly gentle curve. I was travelling quite slowly (fortunately) when I suddenly discovered that my steering was having no effect and I was continuing in a straight line ..... right at the moored boat. Full astern also had absolutely no effect and I had no time to climb out of the cockpit to get up forward to fend off. I apologised profusely to the other boat owner who (once he had grasped what had happened) took a line from me while I proceeded to dive head down into the weed hatch and haul out the most enormous quantity of fine weed that was totally wrapped round my prop and rudder.
Sometimes shit happens

At Gt Hayward, moored above the lock a few years ago, we were sat in the well deck eating, when a narrow boat appeared, bearing down on us at speed.
Somewhat alarmed, I jumped up to hear the steerer shouting "Throttle cables gone, I can't do anything".
"Turn the ******* engine off" I replied.
He did, and consequently slowed a good bit before clattering into us.
The panic just cleared his mind for a moment. It had the opposite effect on my undies.
