Ok Doubters, explain why, with an ecofan on my stove the kettle won't boil, without , it will boil. Without the fan there is uneven temperature in the room, with fan, temperature is even, and warm air spreads around the house if we leave doors open. Come on, don't be shy, you're not in analworld now. Where is the differential in heat going? I find that hard to believe, that your kettle won't boil because the ecofan takes too much heat away. I think the top of the stove is hot enough to drive both ecofan and kettle. I've got enough on my list of things to do, so I'm not going to make a note about trying this. It's nowt to do with belief. Empirical evidence. Sure the kettle gets hot, beginning to simmer, and boils quick enough when transferred to electric kettle. When I remove the ecofan it boils. So the ecofan is taking some of the calories and throwing them about.

Our eco fan also sits atop the stove spinning away merrily to itself. When it spins slow I know I need to tend the fire, When it spins fast, I know the stove is doing well. Thats all i've ever noticed with it. I've tried it with and without and find no difference at all throughout the boat, in the galley, in the bedrooms, in the saloon. Some people think they work which is good, some people dont think they work which is also good. For me its just an expensive stove heat indicator which I have had for several years Unusual for someone who bought one to suggest they don't work Maybe they only work in narrow boats. I can state that they work in widebeams as well. Our previous boat was 12 foot beam and the Ecofan came with us to our NB Phil

diesel boiler installed in the engine room, Rayburn and log stove still installed and operational if needed. (Rayburn would be serious hassle to remove, anyway I like the look of it) Nice setup. I had a Rayburn in a narrow boat. Bloke who bought the boat didn't want it so he broke it up in situ and carried out in pieces ! I put the Rayburn in with a friend using planks and rollers (cut up broom handle) in one piece (minus doors and hotplate). Best part of 300kg !! Would be bloody difficult to get it back out in one piece. I have a rayburn in this boat easy to put it in like you with planks and scaffold poles its a brilliant bit of kit, so much so that I have acquired another for free for the broads cruiser, this one is an oil conversion on a solid fuel so if i doesnt work out its back to solid fuel

Then it would need more wood feeding it, wood needs chopping etc etc. Anyway this thread wasn't about the efficiency of my stove or not, but about the capacity of the ecofan to spread red hot joules round the house.
