Because we've had a lot more Wind than sunshine lately, and my solar panels haven't been able to charge my batteries enough, and I'm fed up with running my genny to recharge my batteries, I'm seriously considering a windturbine.
The powerfull ones are very, very pricy though, I just heard that there are a bunch going cheaply if you can catch them in time.

Looks like they provide heat as well as light! Yes, they did provide heat as well, but only once and without anyone touching the on/off switch.
It did look quite scary, and now because of what I saw, I don't want such a big power source anymore.

If your intending on moving into a marina. Don't bother buying turbine as you'll have electric there. But if your in good parked windy place. Then do get one.has I've been through winters where there been no sun at all for months.and my solars not good in dark days .only pure wind I was getting. I've got two turbines spinning. And they have helped me survive

I think if you're not on the coast, forget it. Even then you'd be better off with solar. Even when you go to the coast and every other boat has one at the top of the mast, thinking desperate trickle charge is probably realistic.

They did for a short while start to gain popularity amongst the caravanning fraternity but gave fallen out of favour, I cant recall the last time I saw one. Solar seems to be the charging method of choice for 'off grid' charging these days probably because it's so hassle free and can be left to do it's thing quite safely, particularly when your 'van is in storage and you just want to put a bit into the battery to keep on top of the alarm.
