We came down the Birmingham & Warwick Junction canal (Grand Union) a week or so ago and came across some car tires floating in the cut. Today I cycled back along there and took these photos. I counted about 15 of the blighters slowly wending their way towards Salford junction. Above bridge 107 are two car dismantlers so it's pretty obvious where they are coming from. goo.gl/photos/HioTXosfXj7u6box5Here is the location. goo.gl/maps/YWymHfUM45wSo, does anyone know who to report this to at CRT? Also, any help with composing an email would be gratefully received (I'm not very good at this sort of thing ).

How about the Police? When they're not taking a nap. You might find them in Dunkin' Doughnuts.
The state of Britain, eh?

That huge dump of tyres is surely a health hazard. Risk of fire, mosquito larvae, rats and other vermin, pollution, toxic discharge from the multifarious chemicals used in their manufacture I would report this to the local council, cc CRT.

Not forgetting the risk of getting one around your prop. Had to warn two hire boats to keep an eye out for them. Thanks to Pearly have emailed CRT. Have also reported it to the local council which wasn't as easy as you might think.

Fly tipping scourge of modern day..and here in sarf wales its cos the tip guys check wots what and turn people away for bringing the wrong kind of rubbish. IMO there should be an amnesty on rubbish...I now get quite fearful about taking rubbish to the tip and struggle to ensure i get the recycling rules right

It seems strange to me that in some places a house next to the canal commands a £40,000 increase in the house's value and locals organise towpath litter clearing parties and in other places people regard it as a rubbish dump. By far the worst offenders seem to be white working-class people. I slowed down to pass a moored boat a couple of weeks ago and while I was approaching it silently, the side hatch opened and the boater threw an empty plastic bottle into the cut.

It's boaters like that who cloud peoples judgement regarding all boaters

Certainly the case around Rochdale, and Newton Heath, the areas with po' white trash are the muckiest. Stuff just gets thrown over the fence, out of site out of mind. My house backs onto a small wood, in a little valley blow the houses, the dirty buggers dump all sorts, fridges, tellys... It's a tiny council estate high in the hills, gorgeous views all round.

fly tipping is something that really gets me very angry.
I don't believe the penalties are anything like harsh enough.
