BillS stopped by my mooring today, we had a long chat and I must admit I liked the man... right up to the point where he departed and I heard the tell-tale whirr of a bow thruster.

You must admit it was a pretty legitimate use of the thing. I wasn't using it for steering or anything...

Loved my bow thruster for mooring in windy marinas for pumpouts etc.P used to take the p**s out of me!We had it capped off as it got a leak in it.Do I miss it ?Sometimes as it would deffo make life easier for me when very windy.But...I did realise how lazy it had made me, ie using the thruster instead of physically pushing off.

Today I fleetingly saw and spoke with Bill. Lovely looking boat he has. Now the problem is, we may well meet up in Banbury in the next couple of weeks. A Scot and a Yorkshire man. That first round isn't going to buy itself ! Rog PS no bow thruster action stabby ... mind you he was moored

There's nothing wrong with having a bow thruster... it's using it that's embarrassing Rog

Well, I can now add jimriley to my little list... he and his good lady - well it could have been his other half, knocked on the side hatch yesterday as they were passing on route to Heath tea rooms.
I must say, they're a lovely couple - a no fire-juggling in sight!
Later on, when filling up the water tank, I spotted someone had left the pumpout machine on "pause" and always a gentlemen, offered them first refusal... the declined which turned out to be a blessing as when I turned the boat and connected up, I unpaused it and it only ran for 3 seconds before finishing...hmmf.

I met another thunderboater today. Unexpected meeting. as they also work for the secret services I am unable to disclose the location or the gender of the person in question. The only details I can give out are that it was a pleasant encounter.
Eta and we agreed about anglers.

Not at all - he had a northern accent and had retired at the age of 36 from a "high pressure job" and got a boat. Not sure exactly what job he did but I think he must have been a tyre fitter.
