After the recent change of management (and beer) in there, the Mucky Duck seems once again to be headless. One of the partners who took it over last year seems to have got a bit fed up, and upped sticks. One poor barmaid handled a busy sunny Saturday lunchtime virtually on her own today (and did it very well).
I hope the Duck doesn't 'go down the tubes'. I've had many happy hours in there!

All pubs have their ups and downs, but I'd be very sorry to see the Swan suffer at the hands of inept management, as my local here at home has, or even close, as my local at Sowerby Bridge, at the hands of a money-grabbing property company.
The Mucky Duck came joint top out of 94 pubs visited in the course of my 2014 Pub Cruise. I was really pleased that such a popular canal institution had managed to maintain such an unpretentious and welcoming atmosphere (and good beer), unlike some I could mention.

Well it shouldn't suffer for long. It's a money spinner. Someone will want to run it fairly soon, I think. Dunno quite how these things work.

I'll drink to it too! But the pub needs a leader, and right now it seems it is being run by the good will of some of the regular STAFF. The leader is nowhere to be seen. I've just spend the afternoon there on a busy day, and it is struggling under the load. Best order 2 pints at a time.
