This afternoon ran the line to the excavator on the bank and set up the gin wheel to my forestay fixing. Everything set up to swing the bow round on the predicted 6.1m tide. Up at 12.30 am and went and sat in the office ...... tide only made just over 5.8m ........ 3 points down ........ no point in trying to swing her, it needs an absolute minimum of 6.1 to get her round. Bugger !!! Tomorrow lunchtime the tide is forecast 6.0m so not much hope with the forecast wind direction. Tomorrow night is forecast 6.26 so fingers crossed for then.

Best of luck with today's/tonight's tides, John, but if the Met Office have got the forecast right then the wind direction and strength, and the atmospheric pressure, down in your neck of the woods isn't going to be much more help than it was yesterday. Can I interest you in a set of wheels?

Raging snowstorm here! Snowing all day yesterday and all through the night. The whole countryside is white again. Driving conditions somewhat dire.

We had crap weather here yesterday as well. rain, hail and apparently at Tilbury they had proper snow !!! With the tides all I can do is keep my fingers crossed we have 6.26 forecast for 0220 tomorrow morning (a 6.1 at lunchtime) A 6.31 at 0305 Saturday morning and a 6.22 at 0350 Sunday morning If any one of them makes prediction or higher I am ok ....... if not I might need Tony's wheels The next set of big tides are not till the 27th 28th and 29th of May !!!

Still beneaped ....... this mornings tide (forecast 6.26) just made 6.0. I need a 6.2 that makes !!! We tried winching the bow across but it grounded about a third of the way round. No point in leaving her stuck half way so winched it back alongside again. I think I need the wheels that Tony suggested !!! Oh well, I need to try and stay positive ....... there is still tomorrow !!!

Feeling for you John. Makes us lucky around here with two tides a day. On nights still so will look put for posts too. Good luck There is quite a big difference between the night and day tides in this set ...... the day's are quite a lot lower ....... this afternoons is forecast 6.09 so it would have to make above prediction to help, and with the high pressure and wind direction that is not very likely. I'll be on standby .... just in case, but I'm not holding my breath I think tonight's is really my only hope, unless we get a freak.

They can be a right pain. My mate had a barge on a mooring at Cuxton who could only leave his mooring twice a year and like you if the prediction failed, he was snookered.
Fingers crossed for later
