Why differentiate? A life is a life. The criminal offence and ensuing punishment for drunk driving is a different issue. Why differentiate? Suppose in my mind it's a question of priority (both mine and the powers that be). Suppose I just am destined to think more about where I can aim me very limited help to the rest of the world. Just my own pondering though... Agree with your second sentence. You thinking of working for the Samaritans on the one hand and I don't know what on the other?

Some pondering as a result of the 'where am I thread'. I mentioned a low bridge that had a sign indicating the height (acceptable in my opinion) but the most obvious sign was one that said something like 'Neighbourhood Watch Area - Scrotes are around'. What is the difference between the NHW sign and graffiti that says fuk u bitch - both send out a warning. And more to the point, what is the difference between institutional graffiti such as we now have at Old Turn Jn, and quality yoof graffiti such as banksy / replicas thereof? I'd say the latter is much better! I agree with what I think is your sentiment, there are far too many stupid signs, many driven by elfinsafety, creating eyesores and visual clutter Don't CRT have to have planning permission to put up those signs? Would there be any consequences for "somebody" if that "somebody" were to take their boat up to the island and cover up the signs?

Not really relevant I suppose, but I love seeing quality art work in the open air, even the knitted graffiti makes me smile.
I am obviously not reffering to the inane attempts to spray obscenities around, invariably spelt incorrectly.
Places like near the National Theatre where youngsters ride their skateboards, and every inch is covered in quality and colourful graffiti, I think are terrific. The humorous stuff in the style of Banksy I also enjoy.
I suppose vandalism is putting graffiti where it isn't wanted.
But what the hell is art?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Get it out with Optrex (Spike Milligan)

I know what I want to write but I'm quite good at putting my foot in my mouth. Sort of using this thread just as something to help with my pondering, don't want specific advice on the actual letter though.

A very good friend of mine was diagnosed with a thrombosis, booked himself out of hospital, didn't answer the phone, a few days later I went to see him, had to break in and find him dead on the couch, then deal with police, ambulance, undertaker and ring his family. I'm certain he had gone home to die, though this didn't come up at the inquest. Despite having seen a few deaths over the years I didn't really know what to say, so I said so, while offering my sympathy and saying how sad I felt about it.
A related issue was that he was depressed, we then found out he had run out of money, his sick pay had finished, wasn't fit, mentally to work, the dhss sickness assessment had said he was fit to work, he didn't have the energy to appeal. He saw an opportunity to go home, do nothing and die, it was a sad affair. People with mental health issues are treated badly by the assessment for work system.

"like" would be wrong "agree strongly" is better
