I'm lucky enough to watch a kingfisher visiting my garden. Used to get annoyed about it eating the goldfish but over the years I've realised that the kingfisher was just doing me a favour - goldfish breed like rabbits in the right environment.

My wife heard one yesterday in Barkisland, near Halifax, but I think it was a pigeon with a sore throat.

No cuckoos yet here, woodpecker been banging on metal lamppost for a couple of months already, loads of swans in the fields and hundreds of grus gruses: The Common Crane (Grus grus)

Been for a walk through Cassiobury Park into Watford. Saw a further pair of Egrets, and also several parakeets. We must be in 'London' to see them Rog

Good luck in Cassiobury Park....
Bit late, I appreciate (long time no computer) but heard a cuckoo near Shrewley Tunnel on St George's Day - sorry you missed it!
Happy travelling - and enjoy those egrets.
Met x

No sign of a Cuckoo up here... just a (mistakenly fed by us) couple of ducks, that do a tango in clogs on the roof every morning around 4.30 - fecking noisey **tards!

Ducks are funny. I don't feed them, I prefer wildlife to be wild, but every night as regular as clockwork they work their way along the boat front to back nibbling at the weed growing on the hull.

I reckon they're just getting their own back against that bloke banging away all day laying new flooring. My brother had the carpal tunnel op, both wrists at the same time. He regretted it deeply, and would advise one at a time will make life much more pleasant. He felt being unable to wipe his own arse was too big a price to pay. Just saying Rog

Just saying Rog I mayhave missed summit but what has carpel tunnel to do with ducks?..or laying a floor? no matter guess we've drifted off topic as we do so in response.. I think i agree with not having both done at same time..however with waiting lists as they are perhaps once you've got a bed for an op tis best to get everything done cos u never know when the chance will happen again... Ive been waiting 14 months now to see a consultant....

Quaysider writes a very interesting blog about his boat Ellis. It's well worth a browse. Very amusing Jane and I find it. Hope he won't mind me saying, but google 'narrowboatellis' and you can read all about it. Don't mention it to anyone though. It'll be our secret Rog

It'll be our secret Rog I noticed on his blog his use of that white pipe stuff for his toilet. I wrapped mine with silver foil, and sealed with duck tape. The pipe tends to bleed an odd smell otherwise.

No cuckoos yet here but I did see a tit just now. Thought Jenlyn might like it:
