Oopsie! Were you the even nicer CANADIAN lady We came off the Aylesbury as you winded, and followed you to the bottom two Marsworth locks. Jane helped your partner (Dave I believe) do the top lock. I worked the bottom lock and told you that you were not allowed to leave Dave behind. Dave pointed out the flowers on our roof to you. Fancy meeting you and not knowing. Rog What a small world eh? Well it was really nice to meet you Rog, and thanks very much for the help with the locks - it was truly appreciated. Dave has 2 cracked / broken ribs at present, so he's been struggling with the paddles and hoiking himself up on the gates to cross over. Please pass my thanks along to Jane as well. All the "American" stuff was said very tounge in cheek - over the past 18 years since moving over here, I've been asked what part of Ireland I'm from along with Australia, New Zeland and of course the States. The only time I've ever taken offence is when I say "actually I'm Canadian" and a couple of old tossers have replied "same thing"!!! to which I tend to respond with "what part of Wales are you from!? Your boat really is lovely, you sould be very proud. Hope you have a great day at the steam rally tomorrow. B~ I always thought Canadians were wannabee Americans but weren't allowed to cross the border? Other than knowing loads of "snow birds" (Canadians who "winter" in Florida), I have never met a single one who wished they were Yanks. I'm guessing your above post was made in jest? Speaking for myself - WE love the Canadians... they have MANNERS... in the past when on cruises (as in 130000ton ships) it's always the canadians and english who say "please and Thank yous"... the americans - whilst lovely in their own way, are more inclined JUST to say THANK you if you follow. Canadians' Rock! Canada has it's fair share of nobs as well, they must just stay on land I worked with Yanks and Canadians in AFCENT and I know which I prefer ok so some cunukes speak frog but most are great people back on thread we are just getting ready to push off to go up Tinsley flight so catch you all later I am proud to say the only frog I speak is enough to say "I don't speak french", and of course I'm able to order a coffee I always thought Canadians were wannabee Americans but weren't allowed to cross the border? Canadians, like US citizens and even Peruvian Indians are Americans. If you mean North Americans, than yes we are; however most Canadians would politely correct you if you called them "American" - most don't take offence as we appreciate the accent is very similuar, but we do prefer to be called by the right nationality

Nice to meet you two, too Betty.
Hope your favourite mooring was free when you got there.
You two have really been in the wars lately, hope you have a better second half of 2017.

Canadians, like US citizens and even Peruvian Indians are Americans. Suely you mean 'Peruvian First Nations' for that is the silly Politically Correct term Canadians foist upon their Indians? They were quite happy to deliberately wipe them out with smallpox and steal their lands - which they still claim to own! That's why I think Canadians are not-quite-truthful. Actually Peruvian Indians would come from Peru, not Canada. It is in South America last time I looked. Classic comments by immigration officials: traveller "I'm an American", Uk official, "Good, that's narrowed it down to two of the five continents". Traveller "I'm an American", Canadian official "We are all Americans here, did you mean a US resident". My daughter is a Canadian citizen, currently living in Alberta so we visit there regularly. I have to say that Canadians, especially Canadian officials are a damned sight more human than their counterparts in the US. However Canadian prices are close to outrageous for far too many things. It is also fair to say that Canada IS a collection of waring provinces (with a few territories thrown in for good measure). There was one time that I hired a car in the US and drove to Canada as the rental places in Canada would not let me rent in one province and drive to another and back again.

I'm confused is this Nazi Zombie one of Mr Stabby's socks?...why is he on a war path?... No, it's an ephemeral change of identity rather than a sock puppet account, which is why I've taken my post count and signature along with it. A prize for the first person to identify the film it comes from. Thank you for clearing the mystery up....as to film..I'll leave that for those who watch that genre...I rarely watch any films or tv and always hit the 'off' at unpleasant bits...In younger days I spent most of 'Jaws' on the floor of the cinema in-between the seats under coats and the 'Mousetrap' kids film I walked out of so many times at what I saw to be scary..my kids eventually banned me from coming back in.....

That film looks truly horrible.
It reminds me of when video cassettes first came out and we all went crazy for home VCR's.
Chatting at work I mentioned we'd just rented a VCR and were looking for film recommendations.
What sort of thing do you like, says they.
Oh, you know, who dunnits, Agatha Christie style murder stories, that sort of thing.
You want to get 'Friday the 13th' they said, that's a murder mystery.
So like a prize plum, I did.
I nearly shat myself.

That film looks truly horrible. Surely you saw "An American Werewolf in London" when it came out? It's as much a comedy as a horror film.

We have these DVDs on the boat for watching at home after our trip: Bridget Jones's Baby, Passengers, Endeavour series one. I have enough zombies getting on me bus in the mornings.

We are currently lounging on the boat below Stoodley Pike near Todmorden. We've been for a walk up in the hills , down into Tod for a coffee and back to boat along the canal. Slight cloud made it a comfortable walk. Got both ends of the boat open to keep a breeze blowing through. Life is grand.

I'd pay good money for a bit of cloud or even more for a bit of a breeze. Here I sit, moored in full sun (needed for the solar panels), the inside of the boat is 33.4 the last time I looked and not a wisper of a breeze!! I've resorted to a bowl of ice water and a sponge to try and cool down

I hate having to moor in full sun just for the electric.
