Historic boat owners are like lemmings, flitting from one boring festival to another, Fertan and Marine 16, and that blue stuff for your loo.

Stand back and watch Rog lol Rog, add onto that that we are liveaboards we have a pump out instead of a cassette and we cc instead of having a home mooring so yeah, lets just say we aren't all the popular with many of the boaters who take their boats there, although the folks who run the stalls and the trade boats are usually very nice

I'll be moving one of my boats over the weekend according to Canaplanac "This is a trip of 78 miles, 1 furlong and 44 locks from Limehouse Basin Entrance to Henley River and Rowing Museum. This will take 36 hours and 37 minutes which is 5 days, 1 hour and 37 minutes at 7 hours per day." (Via Regents canal not central London tideway) I'm looking to do it in 2.5 days So nowhere near Braunston. Blimey! its about 41 miles as the fly crows, so they recon all the twists and turns adds 37 miles.

Blimey! its about 41 miles as the fly crows, so they recon all the twists and turns adds 37 miles. When I first took my sister out for a weekend on Shapfell, as we drove into Shardlow Marina I pointed out a pub that I reckoned was excellent for a meal. We got sorted out on the boat and set off in the early evening to get a couple of miles and a couple of locks done so she was happy with everything. We moored up and I said come on we'll go to that pub I pointed out. She said "but that's miles away now" I just pointed to a building a hundred yards down the road and said "no, that's it" She couldn't believe we had been travelling for a couple of hours and actually had only gone about a quarter of a mile as the crow flies

Braunston is overrated. It's just an expensive marina by a canal junction. A bit like South Mimms Services on the M25.

I don't like the marina at all but I love the old iron bridges there and at Braunston turn. They are just beautiful really.
