You have to remember that the country is actually run by faceless bureacrats, who never change, whichever party forms the government. When parliament is in recess, the country still runs on, quite happily. And the wealth of the country is created by the 'they' you keep referring to. Without their input, that nice Mr Corbyn, May nor anyone else, would be able to make their bold promises of a better world. The best we can hope for is that 'they' are good people, rather than Philip Green. Rog I agree with most of that except that with the monetary system, people can have a lot of power without 'earning' that position of power. The danger of that is that some of them throw power around without having the wisdom earnt through having a 'normal' life....whatever that is...

Who still believes the country is skint, we should all suffer together and there is no money for public services when £2B can be found "just like that" for political bribery, the outcome of which won't even provide political certainty for anyone.
It's poor argument to accept this, blithely saying Jezza would do the same. It's not him doing it is it? Right now.
These fuckers would burn your house down for power if they thought "on balance" they might worm their way out of through any mutterings.

I'm guessing most of those who aren't skint believe this country isn't skint. That's the problem. Some parents think bunging money at their kids will control them. No wonder money has become so divisive as a tool. Corbyn made all the right noises (well left actually) but didn't say what he really thinks. If he had, he may have won. Mind you, who could blame him at his age.

But again, you miss the point.
It's no good having elaborate plans for wealth sharing without supporting and encouraging the wealth creators.
Whether we like it or not, we need the wealth creators to provide jobs, improve our balance of payments, encourage investment etc. etc.
The best we can hope for is that they have some humility and are prepared not to screw their fellow man just because they can.
The last thing we need is for these people to pack up, clear off, and leave us to Diane and Jez's ideas of wealth creation.

Rog Erm...you really think if they buggered off everyone would just fall in a heap? I thought the weath creators are the hard working labour force who make things and provide a hands on service to all those who live here. Unfortunately Thatcher did a good job at killing off many of our labour force when she farmed work off to foreign lands so the people you speak of could make even more money. So no, I'm not missing the point.

Not names, but where they are typically found and what they do because as far as I've noticed you have to be wealthy already to get any help under the conservatives who's method always seems to be to punish the poor rather than reward enterprise. Under labour as a small business I felt I had a lot of help and the wealth I created I spread around.

The trouble is that we need to pull our fingers out now if we want more independence and be self sufficient.

£ 1 bn for NIPerfectly fine of course, give us £1 bn and we'll vote for you... Waiting for the outrage from Scotland and Wales as to where this extra money is coming from... Maybe a "Magic Money tree" I will be very interested in how the voting goes for the queen's speech

Maybe a "Magic Money tree" I will be very interested in how the voting goes for the queen's speech Well the Tory mps will all vote for it (to keep their jobs) and the DUP will vote for it (to keep their new money), the Liberals will vote against it in the hope of frustrating Brexit, and Labour will vote against it because they can. So I don't see much interest in it, though I could be wrong..........

I read that the DUP are fundamentally opposed to abortion, even for the victims of rape or incest, that they support the death penalty (the only country in the whole of Europe which still has capital punishment is the basket-case of Belarus), and that 40% of DUP activists believe that the world was created by God in six days and that this should be taught in schools. It's no wonder Irish people have a reputation for being thick.
