Been over to Summit Pound on the Rochdale this morning, planting Flag Iris and Willow along the offside of Summit Pound, Rochdale Canal. I'm holding the rope. The guys on the boat are maggot drowners from Tod Angling Society, they had instigated the planting, to create places for fish to breed. The pound was quite bare of plants. They put some seeded and planted coir rolls in last week, with proper Reeds and other stuff.

Willow? Why on earth would you plant that fast growing dangling thing next to a bit of canal you already claim you can't afford to maintain. Deliberate vandalism.

These seeded and coir rolls I have contemplated using in my fight against sliding bank syndrome aided and abetted by 2 ponies and their recently 'impressed gang members'..pair of b..... goats..but dunno how effective that would be in my fight to keep my garden from joining farmers field...Ive dug out lots of soil/banked up with stones/chopped up tree and put branches there to discourage ponies and now..now the b..... goats arrive...Jeez...oh I forgot i put up artificial grass barrier..black side to the animals in the hope what they cannot see they won't want FAILED..Failed Failed Rant over...chilled wine moment
