Has anybody made one ? I need to repair sheath the below water line on my 20 foot cruiser and this will make the work so much easier to do. It may not happen and i have never even looked into one for a boat before. Would make a good project in itself though. Main question now are as it is near fitted out and weighs at a guess 1200kg will the transom and bow which are in good solid condition as i have rebuilt them so should be strong enough ? It only be turned 90 degrees either way. Any thoughts or ideas but for me being even more barmy cheers Wayne

Ah! I wondered what the problem was. Push it over onto a mattress and old car tyres. Am I helping?

It's a heavy old lump to turn, an empty car shell weighs bugger all, you'd need a hefty bearing each end and a plenty long enough lever to shift it round!! You'd also need to make the frame out of something like 100 x 100 box. Next consideration is as you say the strengths in the boat. Your transom is good, but the bow will be difficult to hold, along with putting loads on the hull where she was never intended to have any. So I'd say barmy, but in a good way Go for a quick gelling mix and lay it on, she'll be right 👍🚢⚓🍻

You would not believe how many folk have suggested that, yes and then over a ton of a boat to swing back and splat I have it sussed just need the sleep to deiced to do it. At this rate it will not in the water untill next summer.

I am fine to build one and its design etc and yes more concern is the points of support on the boat, The bow is solid and good 16mm tapering out to 10mm in the bow from where the pivot will go through and plated/bolted either side. and the anchor locker for added strength. Dont think it would need bearings as it will only be turned 1/4 turn each way. To turn it will be a steel plate/wheel at one end with cable around a full turn down to a winch to turn it. If the rotation point is spot on ( unlikely lol ) then less leverage to turn needed. and yes barmy, the way i like it should of seen T`s face when i mentioned this idea again, she though i had forgot all about it lol.
