Noisy things! Well mine is despite being buried in insulation in a sealed cupboard.
Yesterday I fitted 500mm tails either side in the age old loop the loop style and made sure they weren't touching anything. That has quietened it down quite a bit but there must be more I can do.
It has rubber mounts built in, but when I hold it in my hand it's very quiet compared to when it's fixed down via the mounts so there is much room for improvement.
Maybe I could suspend it from thick elastic bands or something. Maybe mount on small piece of board in turn mounted on some foam.
Has anyone been through this with a successful result and willing to share the secrets of that success?

I have not tried it but I suspect mounting on a metal plate which is itself mounted on "bobbin mounts" might help. Double vibration isolation.

That would stop it walking about if I can get soft enough bobbin mounts. The amount of vibration the thing manages is impressive for it's size. It's a boggo surflo pump.

I use shurflo on both boats. The one on the boat which is on mains electric and a permanently on charger is very noisy. The one on the off grid boat is much quieter. Operating voltage makes a massive difference. It'd probably be worth experimenting with a PWM speed controller to slow the pump down a bit if the batteries are at an elevated voltage. I never thought of this until now. I'm going to try it myself i reckon it'll work wonders.

I assume that you left the mounting screws LOOSE. If you tighten them you compress the rubber and make it less compliant.

Get it fixed please (then come and fix some things on my boat when you run out of things to do) 👍

The flexible pipes should be rigidly mounted at each end. Only the flexible should be free to vibrate. One clamp on the pump mount and one on the hull.

Yesterday I fitted 500mm tails either side in the age old loop the loop style and made sure they weren't touching anything. That has quietened it down quite a bit but there must be more I can do. You could put a 1,000 litre IBC on the roof, mounted on 12' stilts and go for a totally silent gravity-fed system. Course, you'd have to take it off to go under bridges but every silver lining has a cloud.

Following advice, kind of, it's now mounted on a piece of 2mm thick steel plate in turn mounted on 10mm thick closed cell foam and loosely screwed down through rubber grommets. The pipes have a flexi loop the loop and the ends of solid pipes are fixed.
It got quieter at each stage. It's not exactly quiet, but it's much better and I think as good as it's going to get without a heavier plate on proper mountings .
