My BSS is due and I'm hoping to find an examiner with a similar mindset to the bloke who MOTs my car.

Had mine done recently as well. 'Boatman'(Nigel Carton) of this forum did it again, always highly recommended.

My BSS is due and I'm hoping to find an examiner with a similar mindset to the bloke who MOTs my car. The gas and petrol safety element of the test is a good idea, the rest of it is questionable, although Stuart did point out that it has increased the standard Boats are maintained to since it's introduction. I know of one boat which had a DC lightning circuit comprising of a two bare copper wires running the length of the Boat, you crocodile clipped the lamp you wanted to illuminate to the wire's and voilà, the lord said let there be light, and there was light - and you could see for fucking miles I knew of a lenient mot tester and garage owner who was partial to a good whisky left on the passenger seat - most stuff would go through, including a ropey mini owned by the daughter of a solicitor, her boyfriend mot to the unsafe pile of crap, father wasn't impressed and got on to the ministry, they sent a ringer, it passed, mot licence was revoked many skint motorists had to look elsewhere for a soft mot. Houses now stand on the site The good old days of dial an mot are long gone, computerisation saw to that.

For every MOT examiner who has a slightly lax interpretation of the MOT tester's manual, I'm sure there are ten chains who fail every single car they test on weeping shock absorbers, simply because that's their scam.
