My boy is coming up this weekend for 4-5 days and wants to do an out and back trip, starting from Stretton-under-Fosse, should we go to Snarestone or Banbury, and what are your reasons for your suggestion?

He does, and I know there is only the Hawkesbury stop lock on the way to Snarestone and lots on the way to Banbury, although he does want to do the Ashby, we got half-way along it last year, to Hinckley, but the rain was so bad that we terminated the trip there.

The stop lock at Hawkesbury is currently fucked, so you might not get a choice. I don't think CRT have made any promises that it will be fixed by the weekend.

Ah that's interesting, I was wondering why so few boats had been past my mooring today. Thanks.

I've voted for Banbury then, for several reasons. Firstly, the stop lock might not be fixed by then and if it is there will probably be a backlog of boats going through. Secondly, the Banbury trip is nice but there are a lot of locks, so you can take advantage of having a fit young lad to do them all for you. Thirdly, you don't have to pass through Nuneaton to get to Banbury, though it would give you chance to stab some chavs.

I'd prefer Banbury. I was wondering about the scrote potential - may be a bit better long the Ashby specially if you nip into Coventry first so if you are bloodthirsty its a bit of a difficult choice really.

Banbury's a terrific town. The Napton and Claydon locks are a joy to do. Get on the south Oxford. You know you want to Rog

You know you want to Rog I've done them both before, and my personal choice would be Banbury, but I have a sort of semi-official rule that whenever I have a guest aboard that I let them make the choice.

We're tossing a coin between Oxford or Stratford. We'll have to make our mind up before Napton junction, right or straight on. Love it Rog

Shit, forgot you aren't lizards and can't do that. Well just go with the flow then. Both are lovely BTW. 50/50 from here. Sorry forgot the apostrophe 't'

It's 3 days from Napton to Banbury innit? First to Fenny Compton, then to Cropredy, then to Banbury. It took us 5 weeks to get from Nantwich to Skipton, CanalPlanner says 5 days!

Hawkesbury stop lock is closed. S Oxford summit level is very low on water. How about down to Napton Jn and turn right up the G Union. Ok a lorra lorra locks but then he's young and fit!
