I'd have thought that was a bit counterproductive as lorry drivers are a vital part of the economy ?

I was under the impression they were all 'well to do families' just trying to escape persecution. in fact, I remember reading umpteen threads over on the 'other side' last year stating just thatπ€π€ shurely shum mistake?? π

Your news source is questionable, in my view (if news and Daily Mail can be used in the same post).

Whether well to do or not attacking someone with a brick is assault.... But to call them 'worthless sub humans and suggest they be gassed' is a pretty awful response.... desperation leads people to behave in appalling ways.
I feel sorry for lorry drivers doing their job..they should not be subjected to attacks like this.. I really don't know what the answer is...these people probably victims of pretty horrific stuff themselves but it doesn't give them the right to wound others... I do wish violence could stop and the world could live in peace.

But to call them 'worthless sub humans and suggest they be gassed' is a pretty awful response.... desperation leads people to behave in appalling ways. According to the London Boaters Facebook group, yesterday two men broke into a narrowboat in west London and raped the female occupant. I call the rapists worthless sub-humans, and I really don't care how desperate they were to empty their bollocks, there is no excuse for their behaviour either.

It is horrible, and I did not mean to divert from that, but I cannot abide the Daily Mail.
I have no idea when or how these issues will be resolved.
No one should be physically assaulted for doing their job.
I have every sympathy for the drivers.
I also feel for the people driven to extremes where they risk death to try and make a life for themselves and their families.
The world can be an unforgiving place. I am very fortunate and appreciate my luck.

Its also wrong that people break into narrowboats and attack female occupants... There are a lot of despicable crimes committed by desperate people and also by very unpleasant individuals... I just don't think this world will ever improve though I have been quite impressed by attempts in areas of London to create a sense of community...there are some lovely initiatives being put in place. Maybe if that could be rolled out country wide people would watch out for each other more...I know this won't help lorry drivers but maybe could prevent some of the awful stuff from happening.

Well, flee their own country and then cross the entire length of Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Belgium and France. Presumably when they get to Calais they feel "almost safe".

String up all lorry drivers. They are all un-convicted murderers and/or rapists anyway basically.
